42nd Imperial Guard

The Regiment is currently over strength.
It has 14 companies of harden Infantry
           3 Armored veteran companies
           2 Air wings
           2 Imperial Titans

The Deathknights have been know never to surrender. They live by their own code of honor. Colonel Skrull Tisbar (aka. Deathronin) Has commanded the Regiment sense its birth. The 42nd has the reputation of holding nothing back. They seem to relish going into battle in huge numbers and powerful weapons. It has been said that a armor company there once saw a squad of Tau moving across a small hill. The unit spotted them and opened up for a full ten minutes. After the hill was a crater and there shots were now landing into the hills off in the distance they finally stopped. This is where the "Crushing a walnut with a sledge hammer" expression came from. The 42nd own Infantry has more las cannon crews then any other regiment in the entire Emperial Guard. Because of this it is of no surprise they have the tendency to overkill there tagets.

The birth of the regiment was founded on the planet Amer II. A huge planet as far as planets go. But mainly it is a Y-class civilised world. It was with the envasion of the Tyranid hive fleet Mirachnia that the need to mobilize came about. It took 1 year to reclaim the planet through bitter warfare. And when the smoke had cleared the Deathknights were still alive. But they were not know as the Deathknights just yet. It was not until the story of how one platoon holding out against a swarm of Genestealers that they got the name. Apparently, as the story goes. The unit was to protect a castle wich represented the early days of colonization of the planet. The castle was more or less a historical monument to the people. It was not until the unit ran out of ammo that the troops looked to their Lt. for instructions. seeing that they were out of ammo and about to be over ran, he came up with the idea to go to the castles historical armory and put on the old platemail suits and ride into battle. Something was better then nothing. Henced they attacked like Knights of the old, Sword and Axe in hand. Fighting went on into the night. The time help arrived there were very few left but those that had survived had won the fight. And they looked like an evil Knight. Covered in mud and dirt, clad in ancient full plate...... And hence the Deathknights were born.

Currently they have been Summoned to fight once again Hive fleet Mirachnia. And there Regiment has been sent to the Planet Galtia III. But the planet alone has turned out to be full of surprises. Small pockets of Orks live there. And they are starting to get bigger in size. Then there is the Tau. For unknow reason they have landed and tried to take the planet as well. And now there are the forces of Chaos showing up. And with that, the Gray Knights have followed to deal with them. And only just recently by the emperor himself has sent a Company detacthment of Space Wolves to add to the fight. And Two Imperial Titans have been sent to the 42nd under Colonel Tisbars command. Heavy Reaver Dominust and Wolfhound Iron Javelin. Two titans that have seen battles of long ago. It appears the emperor has blessed this unit more then once in past battles. Also there have been reports of a number of Baneblades and Shadow sword tankis about. But with a Combat record like the Deathkngihts it is no wonder they get the best stuff.
