Our Vacation Pictures
(Washington, DC - July 1-5, 2003)

During our time in DC we camped at Green Belt National Park in Maryland and drove the 15 miles into DC each day. The park was beautiful and thankfully our rainflap worked very well when it poured all day and all night on July 2 and 3. While it rained we visited some of the museums and saw the flag that hung from the Pentagon after Sept. 11th. Our friend, JP, also joined us on this DC adventure, but he stayed in a motel. = - )

We visited the National Cathedral and saw where Helen Keller and Annie Sullivan are buried.

Our day at the National Zoo was a little wet, but we couldn't complain about the cool weather and we were still able to see most of the animals.

After many past visits to DC we were finally able to go inside the Washington Monument!

On July 3rd we attended the dress rehearsal of "A Capitol Fourth" and we were able to see the whole show minus the fireworks. Dolly Parton was our favorite! = - )

On July 4th we enjoyed a picnic lunch near the Lincoln Memorial and the Reflecting Pool - it was a perfect location to view the fireworks and on the way back to our campsite all 4 kids fell asleep. It was a long day!
