Hubbard 0, Beaver Local 2

 

Hubbard, OH—Hubbard loses a closely contestant AAC league game to Beaver Local.  This was an evenly played game for both sides.  Beaver Local scored their first goal off a corner kick.  Hubbard’s keeper was calling for the ball and couldn’t quite get to the ball when the ball was trying to be headed out.  The ball went straight up in the air only to be headed in the net by Beaver Local for the 1-0 lead.

 

Hubbard came very close to tying the game when Gabe Hitchcock got away from the Beaver Local goalie that was out of his goal area 25 yards away.  Gabe got to the ball before the keeper did and took a quick dribble to his left and fired a shot into the body of a Beaver Local defender.

 

The game was 1-0 at halftime Beaver Local.  Hubbard came up in the second half looking to tie the game.  Tim Kemner hit the crossbar off a direct kick that had the keeper beat only to see the ball land a foot or so away from crossing the line.  The second best chance the Eagles generated was when Hubbard’s Gabe Hitchcock stole the ball off Beaver Local’s left defender and created a one on one with the Keeper.  Gabe’s shot ended up in the side netting.

 

Beaver Local got their important second goal at the 22:00 mark of the second half to go up 2-0 and held on for the 2-0 win.

 

Hubbard’s young defense played a pretty good 80 minutes.  The defense didn’t give up many good looks at goal.

 

Hubbard will host Canfield on Saturday night
