Hubbard gets huge win over Lakeview 3-1
September 24, 2007
Lakview, Oh—Hubbard (8-2-2) gives
Lakeview (9-2-1) their first Tac-8 loss of the year. This was a must win for the Eagles because of
the Eagles two previous ties against Champion and
Lakeview got called for a handball in the penalty area early in the first half. Alex Chick converted to very important penalty kick to put Hubbard up 1-0. Then shortly after that Hubbard’s Greg Orr netted the game winning goal and his first career varsity goal to give Hubbard a 2-0 lead. With 14:00 left in the half Alex Chick nailed home another very important goal on a 22 yard direct kick to put the Eagles up 3-0 and that’s where the game stood at halftime.
Hubbard’s defense was the show case of the night again. Tonight was the fourth consecutive solid performance by the Eagles defense. The defense was put under a lot of stress because of certain situation that occurred throughout the second half and still stepped up and answered the call. The only goal Hubbard gave up was a penalty kick that Lakeview scored midway through the second half to cut the lead to 3-1 Hubbard. This was a great win for the Eagles. Not only did the Eagles beat the undefeated Bulldogs in the Tac-8; they beat one of the best teams in the District tournament.
Hubbard 8-2-2 travels to West Branch on Thursday, Sept. 27
