Hubbard 3, Liberty 3
Hubbard, OH—
Tonights game between Hubbard and Liberty was a tale of two halves. Hubbard scored just two minutes into the game
when Jeremy Frazzini assisted John Madeline to put
Hubbard up 1-0. From that point on
Hubbard showed no intensity, no ball movement, and no talking. They were as flat as they were against Salem for the remainder
of the first half.
Liberty
quickly took advantage of Hubbard’s inability to control the game. Liberty
tied the game 1-1 on a through ball to the outside right midfielder who chipped
the ball over Hubbard’s Keeper. Liberty scores their
second goal late in the first half to take a 2-1 lead at halftime. Liberty
out shot Hubbard 9-3 in the first half and were getting the better ball movement.
The Eagles came out in the second half and just plain
dominated the Leopards. R.J. Lee
connected up with Alex Chick on a very nice leading pass to Chick. Alex took the ball and placed the ball in the
upper left corner of the net to tie the game 2-2. Hubbard pressured Liberty for the entire half. Hubbard finally took the lead 3-2 when
Phillip Pesch found R.J. Lee in the middle of the
field about 25 yards from goal. R.J.
took the pass, broke through the Liberty defense
and ripped the shot above the head of Liberty’s
keeper to put Hubbard up 3-2.
Unlucky for the Eagles the game didn’t end 3-2. Just four minutes remaining in the game Liberty took a throw in
down by Hubbard’s corner flag. Hubbard
cleared the ball just outside the 18 to a Liberty Player who ripped a one touch
shot in the left corner of the net to tie the ball at 3-3. This was Liberty’s only shot they got off in the
entire second half and that’s the unlucky part for the Eagles. Hubbard out shot Liberty 12-1 in the second half and played a
great second half.
Hubbard will host a tough Poland team Monday evening Sept. 10
