Hubbard 3, Hickory 2

 

Hermitage, Pa—Hubbard’s Alex Chick led the Eagles with two assists and the game winning goal with five minutes left in the game against Hickory Thursday night.

 

Paul Gref put Hubbard up 1-0 early in the first half with a left footed blast from 20 yards out off an assist by Alex Chick.  Then, midway through the first half Paul Gref struck again off a corner kick served in by Alex Chick.  Paul took the corner kick in the air and headed the ball passed the Hickory keeper for a 2-0 lead.

 

Hickory bounced right back to close the score to 2-1 Hubbard on a counter attack with nine minutes left in the first half.  Hickory came out the second half and controlled a lot of the play.  Their hard work finally paid off midway through the second half when a ball got over the Hubbard’s defense and a Hickory player was there to tie the score at 2-2 on a short range shot.

 

The game when back and worth until R.J. Lee hooked up with Alex Chick with five minutes left in the game.  R.J. took the ball down the left side cut the ball back about 25 yards out and found Alex Chick making a hard run down the middle of the field.  R.J. put the ball right on Alex’s foot.  Alex then beats the last defender and calmly sides the ball passed the Keeper on the ground far post for the 3-2 lead and the win.
