Salem 4, Hubbard 3

 

Salem, OH—Hubbard battles Salem to the end and come up short on the scoreboard.  Hubbard played a pretty good first half and out shot Salem 9-4 but were behind 2-0 at halftime.

 

Diego Rivera scores a hat trick against the Eagles.  The first came at the 18:00 mark of the first half and the second just before halftime to take the 2-0 led.

 

Diego Rivera scores on a redirected ball to put Salem up 3-0.  Jonathan Lee scores five minutes later to give Salem a 4-0 led.  At the 29:00 of the second half Alex Chick got pushed in the penalty box and converted the penalty kick to give Hubbard their first goal of the game.  Minutes later Alex Chick scores again off an assist by Miles Williams for the Eagles on a very nice left footed shot just outside the 18 to make the score 4-2 Salem.

 

Hubbard gained a lot of momentum on the goal and picked up the intensity and kept the pressure on Salem.  With 1:05 left in the game Gustavo Menezes assist Miles Williams who scored his first career varsity goal with his left foot to cut the led to 4-3 Salem.

 

Hubbard pressed forward in the last minute and did get off one more shot before the game ended.
