Hubbard opens up their 2005 season with a 5-2 win over Salem

 

Hubbard, OH- Alex Chick got Hubbard on the board early in the first half with a nice goal after he beat a defender one on one in the penalty box. Salem bounced back to even the score 1-1 on a cross that got away from the Hubbard’s keeper.

 

Rafael Lima put Hubbard back up 2-1 on an unassisted goal in the upper right corner of the net. A.J. Pulice gives Hubbard a 3-1 lead off an assist by Rafael Lima. Salem scores their second goal to cut into the Hubbard lead 3-2.

The second half went back and forth with Hubbard creating a few more scoring chances. Then at the 35:00 mark of the second half Tyler Miller took a pass from A.J. Pulice and beat a defender in the box and scored a near post goal to give the Eagles a 5-2 lead and the 5-2 win.

 

Hubbard played a decent game, not a great game by no means to open their season. The defense played very tough tonight; not allowing any very good looks or shots at goal. The offense played a pretty good first half with ball possession. In the second half the eagles didn’t possess the ball and distribute the ball like I thought we should have.

 

Giving this was the first game for the Eagles and the third for Salem I thought we faired well.
