Hubbard 2 Salem 5
Salem, OH-- Mike Clemente put Hubbard up 1-0 with an early goal coming at the 35:00 mark. Clemente's goal came by a scramble in front of the net that Salem's keeper was unable to hold onto.
Hubbard held a 1-0 lead until midway through the first half when Hubbard was whistled for a trip in the penalty box. Salem converts the penalty kick and ties the game up at 1-1. Then at the 8:00 mark Salem nets their second goal to go up 2-1 at half time.
Starting the second half Salem got an early goal to push the lead to 3-1 Salem. Midway through the second half A.J. Pulice assisted Anthony Tombo who beats two defenders and scores for Hubbard to cut the Salem lead to 3-2. For the next 15 minutes both teams created nice scoring opportunities but were unable to score.
In the last 10 minutes of the game Salem breaks through Hubbard's defense and nets two goals to finish the game with a 5-2 win.
Both teams had 13 shots on goal. Hubbard played a much better second half possession on the ball and created some nice scoring opportunities. The intensity also was picked up be the Eagles, which we hope to carry into our next game against undefeated Champion on Tuesday, Sept. 9
JV- Hubbard (1-1-1) got a 5-2 win over Salem. R.J. Lee scored three goals in netting his first hat trick and Anthony Greco scored two goals for the Eagles.
Hubbard Varsity (1-2 play undefeated Champion on Sept. 7 at 7 p.m.)
