Mooney downs Hubbard 2-0 in hard fought game

Hubbard, OH-- Hubbard played the number one ranked team in the state and eighth ranked team in the country to a 2-0 loss on Thursday night. The defense played an excellent 80 minutes of soccer, holding one of the most explosive teams in the state to one goal in the first half and one late in the second half.

Both of Mooney's goals came off corner kicks. The defense played a very discipline defense and didn't give up many great scoring chances. A lot of Mooney's shots were a good 20 to 25 yards off goal.

Mooney held a lot of time possession on us, which we knew they would control the time possession. We wanted to keep the game tie and possibly hit them on a counter late in the game or pick up some kind of direct kick. It was very difficult to penetrate any part of their defense. They have a very strong team up and down the field.

I was very happy with the effort of all the players.
