Hubbard 2, Salem 1

Hubbard, OH—Hubbard stops Salem in league play and is a half game back from Lakeview and Beaver Local in the Standings.  Again, Hubbard’s defense was solid tonight and the offense did just enough to win their third game of the year.

Sterling Morris hooked up with Tim Kemner midway through the first half to take a 1-0.  Kemner collected the ball just outside of the goal box, beat a Salem defender to his left and fired a left footed shot in the upper right corner of the net for the 1-0 lead.

Salem played a nice first half and was creating the majority of the scoring chances but could not find the back of the net.

Hubbard comes out in the second half and played a much better second half.  The Eagles started controlling the ball with some nice ball possession and were creating very nice counter attacking opportunities.

That pressure resulted into a scoring opportunity when Sterling Morris got tripped in the penalty box with 13:00 left in the game.  Conor Mogg stepped up and nailed the penalty kick in the upper right corner of the net to put Hubbard up 2-1.  From that point on the defense did their job and held on for the win.

Salem’s only goal came from an own goal.
