Hubbard 1, Champion 0
Hubbard, Oh—Hubbard scores
early and played excellent defense to hold on for their first win of the
year. Tim Kemner scores off an assist by
Martin Pederson just four minutes into the game. Martin chipped the last defender at the top
of the penalty box and Kemner beat Champion’s last defender to the ball and did
a very nice job in keeping his composure as he chipped the keeper for the 1-0
lead.
From that point forward
Hubbard was pushing the tempo for that all important second goal. The best chance came at the 33:00 mark of the
second half when Eddie Zitnik took a beautiful shot that not only rattled off
one post but deflected back across the keeper and hit the near post. The chances came and many of them as Hubbard
out shot Champion 21-9 on the night. Champion hung tight and kept the score 1-0
Hubbard.
Hubbard’s defense played a
solid game as they held off Champion for the entire game. Hubbard’s keeper Steve Roose had a very
strong performance tonight for the Eagles in the net.
Great team effort for the
Eagles!
