My Work

The boring part of my home page…L

·        Current Work with PNNL: Research focuses on discovery of new materials for high-resolution radiation detectors. Hierarchical Bayesian optimization algorithm (hBOA) is used for searching the unknown material compound space; and sequential kriging optimization (SKO) is used for calibration of the computer models.  Additional work involves material informatics and optimization of fuel cell designs

·        Work with Scientific Forming Technology Corporation (1/2000 – 10/2005): developed and supported the material microstructure models in Finite Element software DEFORMTM.  The duties also included the core file structures and user graphical interfaces.  I played important roles in the project “A Process Modeling System for Heat Treatment of High Temperature Structural Materials” funded by U.S. Air Force SBIR program and a subcontract of the project “Accelerated Insertion of Materials” funded by DARPA.

·        Ph. D. dissertation in Industrial, Welding and Systems Engineering at the Ohio State University, 03/2005: Experimental Planning and Sequential Kriging Optimization using Variable Fidelity Data

·        MS thesis in Industrial, Welding and Systems Engineering at the Ohio State University, 12/1999: Development of a Service-Simulation, Accelerated Aging Test Method for Tire Rubber Compounds

·        MS thesis in Materials Science and Engineering at the Ohio State University, 12/1998: The Stabilization of Chromium in a Simulated Industrial Waste Glass-ceramic

·        BS thesis in Materials Science and Engineering at the Tsinghua University, 7/1997: A New Ceramic Colloid Consolidation Forming Process Based on the Gelling Properties of Agarose
