Khao Takiab | ||||||||||||||||||||
| Khao Takiab means Chopstick Mountain, and you find it 6 km south of Hua Hin city. It's a small mountain with temples, monks, nuns, monkeys and a great seaview. Avoid going there during weekends, when there are lots of Thai tourists there. To get there; rent a bike or a motorbike, take a taxi or a "songtaew" (a pick-up taxi leaving Hua Hin on regular basis. You find them at the mainroad near the post office). It's a nice half day trip, a bit of a tourist trap, though. Don't take the weels all the way up. It's nicer to stop at the north end of the mountain, pass the big, standing Buddha and the stairway up. Walk down to the south end of Khao Takiab, passing the small fishing village and the simple seafood restaurants. Warning; the monkeys can steal your things or cut you. You find them at the east side of the mountain. South of Khao Takiab you can find a not so crowded beach, Hat Suan Son. |
