Russian Tortoise
Testudo Horsfieldii
I currently own 3 russians: Littlefoot, Myrtle, and I have a new one, that doesn't have a name yet.
All three of them have very good appetites. Actually, they're little pigs, as most Russians are.

I received Littlefoot right after I got Toby...(on the home page). Toby was sick, and I didn't know much about turtles and tortoises. So, I bought Littlefoot from a local Petsmart store. Luckily, nothing was wrong with her, and she was actually healthy as can be. I learned alot from Littlefoot, and luckily, what I learned, helped me save Toby.

My aunt actually works at a petsmart, and a person came in with Myrtle, and had found him walking down the road, luckily un-hurt. My aunt gave Myrtle to me, to take care of, and I ended up keeping him...

This last tortoise was also rescued. He was at Petsmart, and came in, wouldn't eat, wouldn't open his eyes, and wouldn't move. Luckily, after alot of medication and tube feeding, This is tortoise is doing alot better.
He eats like he should, has an awesome personality, and is very active.

I do owe alot of thanks to Theresa (tcc), and Joe, (chiro). If it wasn't for them, I don't think Toby would have survived, and Maybe not even by new one : (
Thanks guys..... ~Britt~
These Two pics are of Littlefoot, she is my only russian tortoise at this moment, but hopefully, i will be able to adopt another from a Rescue Group.
Here is some info I picked up from other peoples sites
Joe's Russian Tortoise WEBSITE...
Awesome site, and a nice guy.

Thanks Joe
This information is from Joe "Chiro"'s website... www.russiantortoise.net

Russian Tortoises, are grazers and they enjoy broad leaf plants. They don't really liek grasses and hay, like the tortoises from arid reagions of Africa. (Sulcata and Leopard Tortoise). The best diest is a variety of weeds.
I feed my Russian dandelion, and it is said to be one of the Russian Tortoises "preferred" foods
The best key to a happy and healthy Russian, is 'variety'.
Most grocery stores have a decent variety of greens, that Russians will eat. I will list some below...These greens should be organic, and free of all pesticides.
Don't feed your tortoises the same food day after day. Give them a variety of food every other day or so, I go back from Collards, to Romaine, to Escarole, and to Dandelions in the winter.

Romaine Lettuce
Escarole or Endive
Red and Green Leaf Lettuce
Collards
Mustard Greens
Turnip Greens
Dandelion

Joe, who many people know as "Chiro", says that his tortoises love Hibiscus, (flowers and leaves), Plantain, and Prickly Pear berries and pads. He says to burn off the spines.

There is also some stuff you should know about that you shouldn't feed your tortoises. Avoid it as much as you can, because it may harm your tortoise.

All Fruit. I only feed fruit to my tortoises when I get a new tort, and he won't eat anything I give him. Sometimes all they need, is that sweet smell from a banana or apple to make their mouth water. (Hee-hee)

Iceberg Lettuce-not healthy enough, and it contains some bad acids I believe.
Bok Choy, Cabbage, All grains (bread, pasta, etc...), Dog and Cat food, Meat and all human Food except for what is listed above.
