Planning your page.

You can't create a webpage without having a basic plan to start from as to what you want it to look like.

   1. What is the theme of your page? - home business, your favorite hobby, family photo album, etc.

   2. What colors do you want? - background color/pattern, color of text, etc.

   3. What elements will you have on your page? - graphic headings, photos, other graphics, etc.

   4. Compose the text that you want on your page.

NOTE: all text and formatting will be set in your HTML file (done in Simpletext for the Mac or Notepad for a PC), NOT in a word processing or page layout program such as MS Word, QuarkXPress, PageMaker or any other such program, therefore style sheets you use while composing your text are useless and may cause problems when copied and pasted into the Simpletext or Notepad file. If you use style sheets, they should be for your information only and stripped out after a proof page has been printed out as a general guide for yourself to follow, so that the codes will not interfere with your HTML file. If you are going to have a lot of text on your page, it may be a good idea to go ahead and use a word processing program to type in your text so you can formulate your ideas and edit and spell check your text. After you have your text the way you want it, you can just copy and paste it into your HTML file and do your formatting there.
