         A Mandalais Sanskirt for "circle, polygon, community, connection" The mandala is a marking of a man or a woman for the meditating individual, much like a Ying-Yang. The mandala is illustrated with four gates, facing the cardinal directions. The gates are usually gaurded by an animal or a human guard. Before meditating in the center the individual must first pass the four outer circles: the purifying fire of wisdom, the vajra circle, the circle with eight tombs, and the lotus circle.
           In Tibetan Buddhism, is a n imaginary place of meditation.Each piece of the Mandala has its significance. Each object represents wisdom or reminding of the meditator of some guiding principle.Tradition dictates the shapes, sizes and colors of these objects. All Mandalas have their lesson to teach. Most Mandalas contain a host of dieties as well as sertain objects.
