About Grenada

Grenada (pronounced
Gra-nay-da), is one of the smallest Caribbean Islands (it's roughly twice the size of Washington, D.C.) as well as one of the smallest independent countries in the Western Hemisphere (it won it's independence from Britain in early 1974). However, Grenada makes up in heart what it lacks in size.
The tropical island with its northeast trade winds has been attracting visitors for generations and is currently home to about 100,000 full-time residents who speak a mixture of English (the official language) and French patois.
Largely Roman Catholic, Grenadians have a strong history of religious influences promoting community- making churches and orphanages a regular sight on the island.
Grenada is considered by many as a paradise. Unfortunately, this small island sits on the edge of the hurricane belt. When Hurricane Ivan hit it head on, what little it had vanished. It is up to us to help rebuild this tiny island paradise and give hope to so many friends.
