Luck, Love, Life

"Stop.
Take me there.
I could change your life."

We drove,
Seemed for hours.
A road I knew so well,
To a place I had never seen before,
Would never see again.

I was brought here for bad.
To be robbed.
                                                            Then why travel so far...
To be killed.
But it was a crowded place...

"Walk inside."
Never forceful...always polite.
Why?
Why am I here?
What do you want with me?!
We walk up to the counter.
I can feel my heart beat.
No.
Pound.

Diamonds.
A bag of diamonds.
Yellow ones.
So beautiful.
He sells them.
In return, he gets what I had sold.
To forget.
Could never forget.

He opens a bigger bag.
Places them inside.
A purple dolphin, marble.
So heavy-
Feels weightless.
A small gold chain,
Broken but beautiful.
Made that way.

"Why are you doing this?"
No reply.
"I thought you were going to hurt me..."
Nothing.
He guestures to purse- pepper spray.
If I felt in danger, why didn't I use it?

He opens his bag.
Puts items before me.
He speaks.
A packet of sugar,
"For luck."
A candy heart,
"For love."
A purple rose- deep purple,
A color I had never seen before,
"For life."

I go to thank him,
But he's gone.
"Stop.
Take me there.
I could change your life."
