For John

I never knew you,
But I call you friend.
You cared for one of mine,
And now you watch over another.
You were a friend to many,
A son to two,
A grandson,
A brother,
A newfew, a cousin,
A savior.
In your death,
You saved them.
And you knew.
One last embrace,
With a whisper,
"I'm going to a better place."
