HSK secures 5th place in the European Cup Qualification in Prague

Despite of missing a couple of key players, HSK defended succesfully its' standing in the European Cup in Prague in 9-11 August. HSK won two and lost two of the matches ending in the fifth place in the Qualification round like last year.

The team - which had only  two players left from the last year's squad - proved itself by fighting back from 3-4 and 1-3 behind against the HKL-MJM from Slovakia and Club Unihockey Madrid from Spain  to win the matches 16-8 and 7-5 respectively. In the final game for the fifth place Unhockey Madrid had a clear advantage of having played one match less than HSK.

In the first match the Nizhegorodets from Russia beat HSK by 16-0. Many of the Russian players represented their country in the World Championships in Helsinki earlier this year and the gap between A class and B class in the world of floorball was evident.

The second match was a much tighter encounter which the Bulldogs from Fredirikshavn, Denmark, won 13-6, and thus revenged last year's defeat suffered by FC Herlev. The final count does not do justice to the HSK performance as the match was very close until the end of the second period.
This match proved that on a good day HSK is capable of beating teams from mid-level European countries like Denmark and Germany.

Overall the experience of the Qualification tournament was a great experience for the team and an eye-opener to the secrets of floorball tactics.
