From time immemorial, many cultures have used fruits and vegetables as health drinks. Many of these treasures of the soil also have healing properties. They are used as alternative treatments to detoxify the body, and also to assist in the treatment of many ailments.
Most fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals. Most Malaysians are used to the delicious flavours of fruit juices but, apart from carrot juice, many are not adventurous with juices from other plants.
For juicing fruit and greens, one needs a good juicer. A model with a powerful motor is usually more efficient. Keep in mind the need for easy cleaning. A juicer that is hard to maintain becomes a deterrent to regular juicing.
For successful juicing, always make sure that all fruit and vegetables are thoroughly washed.
Some fruit and vegetables may need peeling or pitting.
Sometimes, seasoning can also be introduced to improve flavours. For best nutritional value, prepare and drink juices fresh. Whatever it is, feel free to experiment and concoct your own recipes.
Today, with the growing ranks of people aware of a healthy lifestyle, it’s helpful to try some of the recipes below for simple homemade detox.
