| This is a dictionary-in-progress of the words and phrases often employed by the denziens of The HOle, the hideout/clubhouse/second home of Ranters Anonymous. Chris pointed out to me that, partly from the lot of us being together so long, we had developed our own 'language' (blame the sociologist, it's his fault!) I see it more as a series of running jokes that have become so common they have developed a life of their own. You will find here, in alphabetical order, the words/phrases and their meanings. Most of them are self-explanatory. If you have any questions as to the origin of them, email me at [email protected], and I'll tell you as best I, or anyone else, can remember. | Biosphere -- A particular environment, i.e., a Refrigerator biosphere, Truck biosphere, etc. Usually used when something needs to be cleaned. Body Cement -- A cast on any part of the body Boo -- Chicken Boo Grenades -- Eggs Brown Water -- Tea Bombadiers In Coats -- Squirells (see also Tree Rats) Bonkers -- Clif Bars Certify -- Agree with something or someone Channeling -- When someone is displaying characteristics of a character from television, movies, etc. Charlie -- Tuna Clown Assault -- When Backlash wacks someone with one of her stuffed clowns Cone, The -- A dunce cone that renders the wearer invisible and unhearable Cult of the Black Spork -- The weekly group assault of Popeye's restaurant Deflated -- Empty stomach; hungry Dr. B -- Dr. Bronner's soap Elsie -- Beef; any cow Full-Contact Aerobics -- Does this really need an explanation? Grak -- To stare Grak Eternal -- Take a picture; a photograph Grakkin' tight -- Looking very good Jet Fuel -- Any drink with caffeine; soft drink; Jolt Cola Line Lord -- Person in charge of laundry MDBNE (Midb'ne) -- Mouth in Drive, Brain Not Engaged; speaking without thinking Mummys -- Potato chips; baked potatoes Pitch A Boogie -- To throw a fit; become very agitated or angry Ratchet -- A doctor; any medical person Ride With The Dogs -- To ride in the bed of a truck Skip A Groove -- When one forgets some piece of information Sludge -- Coffee, particularly when made by Backlash or Dropzone Squishy Shoelaces -- Stitches Stomach Olympics -- Upset stomach; throwing up Stompers -- Boots, any kind Tree Rats -- Squirells Wally World -- Walmart Zoning -- Staring at seemingly nothing; engrossed in a televison program, book, etc. |
