๑ พาหุ ํ สหสฺสมภินิมฺมตสาวุธนฺตํ
คฺรีเมขลํ อุทิตโฆรสเสนมารํ
ทานาทิธมฺมวิธินา ชิตวา มุนินฺโท
ตนฺเตชสา ภวตุ เต ชยมงฺคลานิ

พระจอมุนี ได้ชนะพญามารผู้นิรมิตแขนมากตั้งพัน ถืออาวุธครบมือ ขี่คชสาร ครีเมขละพร้อมด้วยเสนามารโห่ร้องก้องกึก ด้วยธรรมวีธีทานบารมีเป็นต้น ขอชัยมงคลทั้งหลาย จงมีแก่ท่าน ด้วยเดชแห่งพระพุทธชัยมงคลนี้

Baahu.m sahassam-abhinimmita-saavudhanta.m
Griimekhala.m udita-ghora-sasena-maara.m
Daanaadi-dhamma-vidhinaa jitavaa munindo
Tan-tejasaa bhavatu te jaya-ma"ngalaani
[Tan-tejasaa bhavatu te jaya-ma"ngal'agga.m]

Accompanied by his formidable hosts, and riding on his elephant Girimekhala, the Evil One, Mara, assuming a fierce form with thousand arms, each brandishing a deadly weapon, stormed in, roaring. Him the Sovran Sage conquered by evoking the might of his exalted perfections of Giving and the rest. May, by the power of that Spiritual Glory, I be blessed with triumph and weal.

๒ มาราติเรกมภิยุชฺฌิตสพฺพรตฺตึ
โฆรมฺปนาฬวกมกฺขมถทฺธยกฺขํ
ขนฺตีสุทนฺตวิธีนา ชิตฺวา มุนินฺโท
ตนฺเตชสา ภวตุ เต ชยมงฺคลานิ

พระจอมมุนี ได้ชนะอาฬวกยักษ์ผู้มีจิตกระด้าง ปราศจากความอดทน มีฤทธิ์ พิลึกยิ่งกวาพญามาร เข้ามาต่อสู้ยิ่งนักจนตลอดรุ่ง ด้วยวิธีทรมานเป็นอันดี คือพระขันตี ขอชัยมงคลทั้งหลาย จงมีแก่ท่าน ด้วยเดชแห่งพระพุทธชัยมงคลนี้

Maaraatirekam-abhiyujjhita-sabba-ratti.m
Ghorampan'aa.lavaka-makkham-athaddha-yakkha.m
Khantii-sudanta-vidhinaa jitavaa munindo
Tan-tejasaa bhavatu te jaya-ma"ngalaani.

Even more fiendishe than Mara was Alavaka, the impetuous and haughty yakkhya, who fought with the Lord a night-long battle. Him the Sovran Sage conquered through deduring patience flowing out of His unequalled self-mastery. May, by the power of that Siritual Glory, I be blessed with triumph and weal.

๓ นาฬาคิรึ คชวรํ อติมตฺตภูตํ
ทาวคฺคิจกฺกมสนีว สุทารุณนฺตํ
เมตฺตมฺพูเสกวิธีนา ชิตฺวา มุนินฺโท
ตนฺเตชสา ภวตุ เต ชยมงฺคลานิ

พระจอมมุนี ได้ชนะช้างตัวประสริฐชื่อนาฬาคีรี เป็นช้างเมายิ่งนักแสนที่จะทารุณประดุจ ไฟป่าและจักราวุธ และสายฟ้า ด้วยวิธีรดลงด้วยน้ำ คือ พระเมตตา ขอชัยมงคล ทั้งหลาย จงมีแก่ท่าน ด้วยเดชแห่งพระพุทธชัยมงคลนั้น

Naa.laagiri.m gaja-vara.m atimattabhuuta.m
Daavaggi-cakkam-asaniiva sudaaru.nanta.m
Mett'ambuseka-vidhinaa jitavaa munindo
Tan-tejasaa bhavatu te jaya-ma"ngalaani.

Nalagiri, the King-tusker, provoked to run amuck, murderously assailed all on his way like a raging forest-fire and struck such horror as would the irresistable destroyer, Indra's thumderbolt. Him the Sovran Sage tamed, as if by sprinkling ver him the cooling water of all-embracing love. May, by the power of that Spiritual Glory, I be blessed with triumph and weal.

๔ อุกฺขิตฺตขคฺคมติหตฺถสุทารุณนฺตํ
ธาวนฺติโยชนปถงฺคุลิมาลวนฺตํ
อิทฺธีภิสงฺขตมโน ชิตฺวา มุนินฺโท
ตนฺเตชสา ภวตุ เต ชยมงฺคลานิ

พระจอมมุนี มีพระหฤทัยไปในที่จะกระทำอิทธิปาฏิหาริย์ได้ชนะโจรชือองคุลิมาล (ผู้มี พวงคือนิ้วมือมุษย์) แสนร้ายกาจมีฝีมือถือดาบวิ่งไล่พระองค์ไปสิ้นทาง ๓ โยชน์ ขอชัยมงคลทั้งหลาย จงมีแก่ท่านด้วยเดชแห่งพระพุทธชัยมงคลนั้น

Ukkhitta-khaggam-atihattha sudaaru.nanta.m
Dhaavan-ti-yojana-path'a"nguli-maalavanta.m
Iddhiibhisa"nkhata-mano jitavaa munindo
Tan-tejasaa bhavatu te jaya-ma"ngalaani.

With a sword upraised in his expert hands, did the savage robber Angulimala- finger-garland-wearer, pursue the Lord for a full three leagues. Him the Sovran Sage conquered by His supernatural powers.May, by the power of that Spiritual Glory, I be blessed with triumph and weal.

๕ กตฺวาน กฏฺฐมุทรํ อิว คพฺภีนียา
จิญฺจาย ทุฏฺฐวจนํ ชนกาย มชฺเฌ
สนฺเตน โสมวิธีนา ชิตฺวา มุนินฺโท
ตนฺเตชสา ภวตุ เต ชยมงฺคลานิ

พระจอมมุนีได้ชนะความกล่าวร้ายของนางกิญจมาณวิกา ทำอาการประหนึ่งว่ามีครรภ์ เพราะทำให้มีสันฐานกลม ให้เป็นประดุจมีท้อง ด้วยวิธีสมาธิอันงาม คือความ ระงับพระหฤทัยท่ามกลางหมู่ชน ขอชัยมงคลทั้งหลาย จงมีแก่ท่านด้วยเดชแห่ง พระพุทธชัยมงคลนั้น

Katvaana ka.t.tham-udara.m iva gabbhiniiyaa
Ci?caaya du.t.tha-vacana.m jana-kaaya-majjhe
Santena soma-vidhinaa jitavaa munindo
Tan-tejasaa bhavatu te jaya-ma"ngalaani.

Posing as a pergnant woman by tying a piece of wood on her belly, did Cinca, in the mids ot the devout congregation, falsely accuse, and with lewd words. Her did the Sovran Sage subdue, through His imperturbable serenity. May, by the power of that Spiritual Glory, I be blessed with triumph and weal.

๖ สจฺจํ วิหายน มติสจฺจกวาทเกตุ ํ
วาทาภิโรปิตมนํ อติอนฺธภูตํ
ปญฺญาปทีปชลิโต ชิตวา มุนินฺโท
ตนฺเตชสา ภวตุ เต ชยมงฺคลานิ

พระจอมมุนี รุ่งเรืองแล้วด้วยประทีป คือปัญญา ได้ชนะสัจจะนิครนถ์ ผู้มีอัชฌาสัยในที่จะสละ เสียซึ่งความสัตย์ มีใจในทีจะยกถ้อยคำของตน ให้สูงดุจยกธง เป็นผู้มืดมนยิ่งนัก ด้วย เทศนาญาณวิธี คือรู้อ้ชฌาสัยแล้วตรัสเทสนา ขอชัยมงคลทั้งหลาย จงมีแแก่ท่านด้วยเดช แห่งพระพุทธชัยมงคลนั้น

Sacca.m vihaaya mati-saccaka-vaada-ketu.m
Vaadaabhiropita-mana.m ati-andhabhuuta.m
Pa??aa-padiipa-jalito jitavaa munindo
Tan-tejasaa bhavatu te jaya-ma"ngalaani.

The wandering mendicant Saccaka (lit. the tru one), with his perverted intelligence, invariably distorted truth; pretending to be the very'banner of learning'. He only blinded his own mental vision as he went about indulging in intellectual disputations. Him the Sovran Sage conquered by His inlluminating lamp of wisdom. May, by the power of that Spiritual Glory, I be blessed with triumph and weal.

๗ นนฺโทปนนฺทภุชคํ วิพุธํ มหิทฺธึ
ปุตฺเตน เถรภุชเคน ทมาปยนฺโต
อิทฺธูปเทสวิธินา ชิตวา มุนินฺโท
ตนฺเตชสา ภวตุ เต ชยมงฺคลานิ

พระจอมมุนี โปรดให้พระโมคคัลลานะเถระพุทธชิโนรส นิรมิตกายเป็นนาคราช ไปทรมาณ พญานาคราช ชื่นนันโทปนันทะผู้มีความรู้ผิด มีฤทธิ์มาก ด้วยวิธีอันให้อุปเท่ส์แห่งฤทธิ์ แก่พระเถระ ขอชัยมงคลทั้งหลาย จงมีแก่ท่าน ด้วยเดชดแแห่งพระพุทธชัยมงคลนั้น

Nandopananda-bhujaga.m vibudha.m mahiddhi.m
Puttena thera-bhujagena damaapayanto
Iddhuupadesa-vidhinaa jitavaa munindo
Tan-tejasaa bhavatu te jaya-ma"ngalaani.

The gifted, yet perverted king of Naga, Nandopananda by name, possessed great psychic power and was hostile. By instructing His spiritual son, the Elder Moggallana, mighty of psychic attainments, the Naga king was rendered powerless, and transformed. Him the Sovran Sage conquered through a supernatural mode of spiritual instruction intelligible to his kind. May, by the power of that Spiritual Glory, I be blessed with triumph and weal.

๘ ทุคฺคาหทิฏฺฐิภุชเคน สุทฏฺฐหตฺถํ
พฺรหฺมํ วิสุทฺธิชุติมิทฺธิพกาพิธานํ
ญาณาคเทน วิธินา ชิตวา มุนินฺโท
ตนฺเตชสา ภวตุ เต ชยมงฺคลานิ

พระจอมมุนี ได้ชนะพรหม ผู้มีนามว่า ท้าวพกาผู้มีฤทธิ์ มีอันสำคัญตนว่าเป็นผู้รุ่งเรืองด้วยคุณ อันบริสุทธิ์ มีมืออันท้าวภุชงค์ คือ ทิฏฐิทีตนถือผิด รัดรึงไว้แน่นแฟ้นแล้ว ด้วยวิธีวางยาอัน พิเศษคือเทศนาญาณ ขอชัยมงคล จงมีแก่ท่าน ด้วยเดชแห่งพระพุทธชัยมงคลนั้น

Duggaaha-di.t.thi-bhujagena suda.t.tha-hattha.m
Brahma.m visuddhi-jutim-iddhi-bakaabhidhaana.m
?aa.naagadena vidhinaa jitavaa munindo
Tan-tejasaa bhavatu te jaya-ma"ngalaani.

Though a diety of great purity, radiance and power, Baka, the Brahmagod, was yet under the grip of pernicious views, even as an arm that is tightly held by a snake's coils. Him the Sovran Sage cured by means of wisdom. May, by the power of that spiritual Glory, I be blessed with triumph and weal.

๙ เอตาปิ พุทฺธชยมงฺคลอฏฺฐคาถาโย วาจโน ทินทิเน สรเต มตนฺที
หิตฺวานะเนกวิวิธานิ จปทฺวานิ
โมกฺขํ สุขํ อธิคเมยฺย นโร สปญฺโญ

นรชนใด มีปัญญา ไม่เกียจคร้าน สวดก็ดี ระลึกก็ดี ซึ่งพระพุทธชัยมงคล ๘ คาถา แม้เหล่านี้ ทุก ๆวัน นรชนนั้นจะพึงละเสียได้ ซึงอุปัทวันตรายทั้งหลาย มีประการต่างๆ เป็นเอนก ถึงซึ่ง วิโมกสิวาลัย อันเป็นบรมสุขแล

Etaapi buddha-jaya-ma"ngala-a.t.tha-gaathaa
Yo vaacano dinadine sarate matandii
Hitvaan'aneka-vividhaani c'upaddavaani
Mokkha.m sukha.m adhigameyya naro sapa??o.

These, indeed, are the eight hymns of the Exalted One's glorious victory; whoso recites and recollects them every day, without lethargy, indolence, that wise man would, for sure, overcome many an bstacle and attain to Deliverance.
