A JOURNEY TO HIGHLANDS
Rachiv is the last major city in the Beskyd mountains. From here only small villages and secluded castles will come upon the way of the traveler. Here lays the famous Chornogora mountain (2061meters above sea level) Close to it runs the Tysa river which borders the current territory of Vladevania with Vettlanda and DMZ. Entire stretch of the railway lays through the dense forests. People of the mountains call themselves White Hrvats  and differ   from the rest of Vladevanians in their culture, traditions and history. The first settlers came to Beskyds over two tousands years ago. Seclusion of the mountains preserved their old way of life and left it untouched by the foreign influence. To this day White Hrvat language most closely resembles the Ancient Hochlandian, which is the forefather of the modern Vladevanian language.                Many  ivaders tried to cross Beskyds on the way
to Mukachevo and Ungvar. Some even attempted to build roads in the wilderness of the woods. It was not an easy task, however. Difficult terrain of Beskyds allowed only for one major road and two railroad lines to go through the region. Today you are traveling by the most secluded one: The Burkut Railway (BZ).
ECOTURISM CENTER
The Beskyd Biosphere Reserve is the center of ecoturism of the western Vladevania where guests are invited to tour ecological routes to the most interesting unique nooks of wild nature. Every year it attracts more and more new guests with its unspoiled natuarl beauty. In letters from guests one can read not only the words of the sincere gratitude to the people and to the land itself but also the words of hope for its great future.  Unfortunately the war of secesion from UFUR and the decades of timber cutting by the latter before the war have much undermined the gentle ecological balance. Time will pass before the complete recovery of the land and its treasures.
