GDC: A PROMISE FOR A BETTER FUTURE IN ELECTIONS?
Today in lieu of the recent elections in GDC and the recent raise in Unionist sentiment in South Vladevania we have decided to interview a GDC official on the current situation in our countries. Minister of the Commonwealths foreign affairs, Mr. Valto Cuisma has generously agreed to answer some of our questions. Brekhnia: Mr. Cuisma, as you have probably noticed, things are changing direction in Vladevania. The country has been slowly abandoning its policy of isolationism and began to look forward for the restorations of cooperation with Selansk. How do you see the situation in GDC/ V. Cuisma: The GDC has noticed that there have been changes coming in the way the country's run. The GDC, with its UFUR background, knows how important changes are to certain phrases in state-run newspapers, so it's picked up in changes at Brekhnia. As always, the GDC is worried about what could happen if Vladevania collapsed, which is why it hasn't been pursuing any policies that would lead to further collapse -- no protest at other countries doing business with Vladevania so long as they don't arm her. The Unionists were still bitter about losing Vladevania in the first place, but the new Conservative government sees Vladevania more as an opportunity for GDC businesses to get a share of reconstruction aid and whatnot.

Brekhnia: The borders between the countries have been shut down tight since the end of the war moratorium, is the new GDC government planning to reopen the borders any time soon? V. Cuisma: The GDC will likely begin opening the borders soon, but it wants a security assurances. You can assume that the GDC has been experiencing the same problems with organized crime that Vladevania has, but it's just been kept out of the widely published media. The new Conservative government is willing to work with a more moderate Vladevanian government to ensure border crossings are secure, and to begin smashing the criminal organizations in the DMZ. If there's an agreement on security, the GDC will feel more comfortable easing or removing sanctions all together. Brekhnia: Over the years there have been some discrepancies over the inheritance of the royal Sylvansk treasures, will GDC ever give Vladevania its share in UFUR gold fund and reserve? V. Cuisma: The Conservatives will be receptive to the idea. They still won't want to pay it out in full, though. They will offer to return a portion of the gold, and offer the remainder in government aid and economic investment. The GDC still doesn't trust Vladevania fully, and feels that by linking her economically to the GDC, Vladevania will be forced to be calm. Brekhnia: You may have observed an increase of activities among Vladevanian Unionist party. The party sees its goal in restoration of UFUR with Vladevania included in it. What is your opinion of Vladevanian Unionists? V. Cuisma: The Unionist Party of the GDC wants to re-establish links to their Unionist brothers in Vladevania, but don't expect any help to come from the GDC government for them. The GDC will support Vladevania, or East Vladevania, re-entering the GDC, but the Conservatives probably won't do anything that would give the Unionists influence over the resulting government.
