WELCOME TO MUKACHIV
On 22 of May in the year of MXXXLXXVI by the royal decree of Haromszek queen Elizabetha the city receive "Villa Libera" staus thus being elevated to many privelledges of the free cities of the Abacan statehoods. The convenient location of the city helped its fast economic and cultural development. It also made it an attractive target for the foreign agressors thus raising necesity for the worthy defence of its boundaries. Such defence came with the reforms of Duke Koriatowycz and the fortification of the Mukachevo castle. In the year MXMXXXIIX after the fall of the Abacan Treaty, Mukachiv became a center for the independence movement of the Haromszek Vladevania. This movement was, however very shortlived. Overvelmed by the armada of Sylvansk Mukachevo fell in early April of MXMXXXIX.
The struggle for the independance of the region lasted for much longer. Using the Abaco-Sylvansk conflict to their advantage, Pushkari (the local resistance) valiantly fought against occupants for the next thirty years. Today their memory is being honored in the main cathedral of the city, where on the walls of the left neph tens of thosands of the fallen fighters neff are inscribed in stone.

It took you only 2 hours to travel from Solotvyno to Mukachiv. Indeed the Principality of Rachiv is not that big territory wise. Its heritage, however is much greater than its size. We strongly suggest that you depart the train here and take a tour of the city and the ancient fortress above it. The history of Mukachiv goes down into the ancient past. The first written mention of the city dates with the year MXX in the chronicle "Gesta Haromszekorum" The city and its region was developing as the major trade center located strategically on the crosroads between the Beskyds, the Vettlandan plains and the Abacan territories.

To visit Mukachiv and not to visit its castle is a loss. It will take you only a short ride on a cab or a tour bus to get up the mountain of Palanka. Within minutes you will be standing at the main gates of the old bastion of Vladevanian liberty. Other point of interest may be the Rakoczy Palace, which houses the embassy of Haromszek today. On your way back make sure that you are well stocked for the coming trip. In case if you are travelling to the west that is. We suggest that you eat a meal in one of the city's restaurants. Especially recomended is "Showkova Kosytsia" (a Silky Flower) where you can enjoy the local cousine.
