Pack 872 Meeting Minutes
December 2, 2008
Attending: Lynn Holmes, Dennis Holmes,
Phillip Buckley, Dave Leeret, Susan Turchiano, Fritz Wiegman, Stephanie
Angel, Robin Mendelson, Matt Felde, Steve Hatcher
Food Drive:
- Den leaders need to send names of
participating scouts to Phillip so he can get awards.
- The committee would like to have the scouts do
another good turn in Spring. We’ll work with InterFaith
Community Services to determine their needs, and have the Scouts follow the
process step by step; after collecting they can follow the items to
see how they’re received, handled, and delivered.
Reimbursements:
- Please use the reimbursement form when
requesting pack funds. The form can be found on the website.
December Pack Meeting:
- Caroling as 3 separate groups on December
18th from 7-8 p.m.
- Tigers and 2nd year Webelos –
Library; Wolves and 1st year Webelos – King Soopers (Wildcat);
Bears – Town Center by Tattered Cover
- General Scouting and YPT rules apply
January Pack Meeting:
- Pinewood Derby!
- Tentatively the “weigh-in” will be Thursday,
January 22nd at Westridge Rec Center from 6-9 p.m. Dennis
Holmes will verify date, time and location.
- Check in is at 12:00 p.m.; races begin at
1:00 p.m. on Sunday January 25th.
- Andy is picking up the cars (80 total) this
week. He will contact the den leaders to arrange for pickup and
distribution.
- Robin will take care of ordering the 30
pizzas and 5 cases of water. Bret will confirm the
availability of the cafeteria.
- Dennis will research awards – medals for
participants, trophies (Crown Trophy) for place finishers, certificates
for “best”s , etc.
- We will add a raffle this year.
- Theme : “Amazing Games”.
Storage:
- Phillip will visit the storage facility to
research a new 10 x 15 temperature controlled room.
Spring Fun/Learning trip:
- We’d like to have some ideas about a Spring
go-see-it, similar to when we visited the DU Observatory last year.
Long Term Plans:
- We’d like to do 3 pack trips this year:
- Exposure Trip – such as the Good Deed Field
Trip in Spring
- Explore Trip – such as Denver Mint, Air
museum, etc.
- Exciting Trip – such as baseball game,
soccer game, etc.
Magness Adventure
Camp:
- Session 6: June 25-June 27, 2009
- The committee voted to approve Scout
Scholarships for Magness this year. Each scout attending Magness
will receive a $25 scholarship, with one accompanying adult also receiving a
$25 scholarship. Den Leaders will communicate this with their Scouts
ASAP.
Extras:
- Phillip will meet with Jim Hogan at a First
Bank to establish current bank signatures.
