Blast From The Past #1February 17, 2004: ET Online video w/ Clay and Kelly discussing the upcoming tour. Video Length:
2:50 Video Size:
7.10 mb Video Format: wmv Clothing:
Kelly has her hair curled and is wearing the white shirt and black pants
she wore on On Air With Ryan Seacrest. Clay is wearing his dark jeans,
white button up w/ the skinny black tie and a black suit jacket (Also
the outfit he wore on On Air) Summary:
They discuss the tour, how it came about, how many cities, what the
schedule will be like, who opens and closes and, of course, get on the
scrabble topic. Clay and Kelly seem pretty friendly with each other.
They look and talk to each other a lot in the video. When one is
answering a question, the other is looking at them and many times when
one is answering a question, they are looking at the other, instead of
looking at the interviewer, Bob Gohen. Friendly, fun atmosphere here. Transcript: Bob Gohen: You
are playing the biggest of the big on this tour. Kelly: Yeah,
we’re pretty excited about it. Clay: Yeah
it’s a big deal. You know, I think it’s a nice thing. We both were
going to do our independent tours… Kelly: yeah Clay: Hey!
(laughs) Kelly: And
then now we’re doing.. now we named it Independent Clay: So we
were going to do our own things in smaller venues and we just thought,
‘you know this a bigger,’ .. Kelly thought this would be a bigger
idea to try to put this thing together and try to do some big things. Kelly:
boy/girl, different shows ..so it works out Bob Gohen:
You’re going to be doing, is it 30 cities… Kelly and Clay:
(nodding) yes Bob Gohen:
..in 2 months, little less than that? Kelly: little
less than that, yeah. Bob Gohen: Is
that as grueling as it can get, or is American Idol about as grueling as
it can get? Clay: This is
relaxation for me. Kelly: Oh yeah Clay: I mean,
doing a tour, is consistency, you know where you’re going to be the
next day, you know what you’re doing. At 11 o’clock I hop on that
bus and I’m out to the next city, I sleep and I have to be at the
venue the next day.. Kelly: Yeah,
meet and greet.. yeah, yeah Clay: so
it’s a consistency thing. And you know, just today Kelly and I were
talking about how, we didn’t know all of the stuff we were doing today
until we got to where we were. Kelly: right Clay: ‘oh
and now you’re going to be doing this and that.’ That’s not going
to be happening so much on the tour. It’s going to be a nice
consistency. Kelly: right,
but that’s cause in the business, as well you know, everything’s
kinda like, ‘oh wait do this, do this,’ you know, it’s always at
the last minute kind of thing. That’s just how it is, but with
touring, you don’t have to worry about that. And American Idol, I
don’t know about your show, but my show was like a bunch of chickens
with their heads cut off, cause it was new, nobody knew what to do.. Clay:
can’t understand what he says Kelly: See, I
didn’t know… Clay:
repeats what I can’t understand he said the first time. Kelly: It’s
like total..it’s a good chaos though..it’s that chaos that makes you
anxious and want to get on stage and it’s… that was one of the best
experiences of my life. Bob Gohen:
Tell me about being on the road. Do you have rituals, do you have a
system. Do you know what it’s going to be like. I mean, it’s
bus/tour most of the time? Kelly: right…on
the bus a lot. Bob Gohen:
Are you sleeping on the bus? Do you take your creature comforts
with you? Kelly: I’m
going to make him play… I’m a freak about scrabble. (laughter) (Clay sort of rolls
his eyes up at the ceiling) Clay: I
don’t know.. Kelly: I play
scrabble all the time. Clay: She
thinks.. she’s telling me she’s excellent. Kelly: No, I
don’t think, first of all, I KNOW, that I will beat him. (laughter) (Kelly lays her arm
on Clay’s arm) Clay: She’s
insisting that she’ll beat.. I’m pretty..I’ve gotten pretty good
at losing, so.. (Clay taps Kelly on
the leg) Kelly: Oh shut
up! (Kelly taps clay
back on the arm) No, I’m just really into…I LOVE scrabble. Clay: Ok, well
I dunno. I’m pretty literate Kelly: He’s
a pretty smart guy. He’ll probably give me a run for my money Clay: So
we’ll let you know .. you can ask us after the tour. Bob Gohen: And
what do you…what’s the eating schedule …what’s the sleeping
schedule … do you know anything about what you are facing? Clay: I eat
once a day and then I’m done. Kelly:
(laughs) No I mean basically…actually that’s kinda true though,
cause I go to sleep, I wake up, I go do all the stuff and I eat dinner
and then you do a show and then you’re back on the bus and go to
sleep. Actually that’s kinda terrible but ..yeah. Bob Gohen: And
then you drive that night while you’re sleeping? Kelly:
yeah..we love..we were JUST discussing this. We love the long drives. Clay: 12 hours
on a bus. Is really nice Kelly: yeah
that’s awesome..road trip! Clay: it’s
down time. I mean, it’s the only time that’s really, really down
time because by the time you wake up.. by the time you get to the hotel
and you wake up at 2 in the afternoon, which is what I do Kelly: right Clay: you’re
on to the meet and greet and you’re ready to go for the next day. Bob Gohen:
You’re co-headlining…who’s going to open, who’s going to close? Kelly: switching off Clay: switching
off. |
