The
guild message board is now up and running. I would
ask that present members and new members take the
time to register with it. My hope is that it can
become a new and more effective way to organize
the guild and for members to get to know other members
whose game time does not meet up with their own.
Guild
recruitment
When
recruiting new members
- Find
out if they are playing on their main or
an alt.
- direct
them to the guild site and encourage
them to register with the forums
- If
possible quest with them some before inviting
them to the guild

Code
of conduct
Generally we expect players to be courteous and straight forward with other
players, Guild members or not.
However to be very clear and very explicit
the following areas are discussed in more detail.
Regular Play We
expect Guild members to play the game regularly. We understand that different
people may well have different times at which they can play, but we really do
expect that Guild members should be able to play a particular character at least
once in any given 6 week period. Any character that is idle for longer than 4
months will be removed from the Guild.
We also appreciate that some
members of the Guild may well have second or sometimes third characters
('alternatives' or 'alts') in the Guild, and that their main character may or
may not be a Guild member. We ask those members to indicate which of their
characters are 'alts' by amending their guild character note to say so. Such
'alt' characters will be exempt from the regular play policy.
We also
understand that through circumstances beyond their control Guild members may
have to take extended periods of absence from the game (going on a round the
world trip, an extended holiday, period of exams etc). We ask that members
notify a Guild Officer as soon as possible that this is the situation (we are
not interested in why, just to let us know you plan to be away for a while but
will be back!). Again such Guild members will be exempt from the regular play
policy.
Occasionally, and in very rare situations it may be that Guild
members have to take a forced and unexpected period of absence from the game. In
such cases when the Guild member returns please contact a Guild Officer and
Guild rankings will be re-instated upon request.
Guild Chat The
Guild chat channel is a very useful and lively meeting place for Guild members.
It reaches all online Guild players and is a quick and easy way to communicate
with the people you probably spent a lot of game-time with. However, as the
Guild gets bigger, and more and more people subscribe and communicate on the
Guild channel it can become a very busy and distracting place if certain rules
are not followed.
Some conversations on the Guild chat channel are
simply not appropriate. These include:
- Constant swearing, complaining or whining.
- Any kind of racial slur or remark.
- Flooding, spamming or constant repetition of the same message.
- Using the Guild chat while an Officer is making animportant
announcement.
- Conversations between players that are grouped
- Disputes between individuals
- Adult conversations.
There will inevitably be
occasional breaches of these rules. Officers reserve the right to exercise
discretion when dealing with policy abuse in this area.
Interacting
With Other Guilds and Non-Guild Players As the Guild progresses in the game
we will need to form alliances with other guilds. Therefore it is important that
you respect other guilds in the game and their players. We expect you to, at all
times, represent your Guild with pride, be courteous to other players and
encourage good inter-guild relationships.
Your behaviour will directly
impact other players opionions of us, so please bear that in mind when dealing
with other players.
Specifically we expect:
- That you will follow the same Guild Chat rules on all public channels in
game
- Respect looting rules in any group you join, 'ninja' looting (taking items
you have no right to take)
- That you will not interfere with any other players' enjoyment of the game or
their activities within the game
- Observe all of Blizzards game rules and account management processes
- If you promise to do something (e.g. complete an instance with a party) that
you honour that comitment
- Raise any disputes with other players directly with a Guild Officer
- Conduct yourself in a manner that is honourable and beneficial to the
reputation of our Guild
If you do encounter a serious
problem with another player in the game, please report it to a Guild Officer and
let them deal with the situation. They will do so in full consultation with you
and using the contacts they have within other guilds.
Guild Officers
(Nobel's & Knight's) The Guild officers are the players who are charged with running
the Guild administrative and operational activities. This is a considerable
burden on players who could otherwise be simply playing the game. It involves
them giving up their personal time, effort and experience to help other players
in the Guild. Do not abuse this. The Guild officers putting the additional time
into the game because they want to help others get the best out of the game and
build the Guild.
Therefore the following is expected from Guild members:
- An Officers decision is final, there is no appeal process
- Always respect an Officers opinion, they may not be right, but chances are
they are
- You must conform to any request and Officer
makes of you
Please bear in mind that Officers are paying good (real)
money from their own pockets to support the Guild (paying for web space, using
playing time for Guild matters etc).
