(7/5/06) - Several new Order of the Phoenix set pictures have surfaced (thanks to HarryPotterDeluxe.com , which depict the construction of houses for 4 Privet Drive. Only the fronts of the homes were built, seeing as the backs will not be filmed during the movie's opening sequence.

Another batch of photos was also released, showing Hagrid's Hut, more of Privet Drive, and the Hogwarts Express.

You can check out these photos over at the Veritaserum Galleries.

(6/21/06) - Jason Isaacs, who portrays Lucius Malfoy in the Potter movies, recently did an interview with the LA Daily News, saying that he will be filming for the fifth film in September and October. Also discussed was why he enjoys playing the nasty character:

"I torture myself by always trying to be interesting and human on screen, but every now and again it's great to be in 'Harry Potter' and just rip it up and be as singularly evil and unpleasant as possible."

Filming for Order of the Phoenix is expected to recommence next month, after it was halted due to school examinations for Dan and Emma.

(6/21/06) - Ain't It Cool News was recently at the New York Licensing Show, where the first promotional banner for Order of the Phoenix was spotted.

In the picture, Harry has his wand in hand with Hogwarts school in the background. Although this is just a generic promotion for the film, one major difference seems to be Dan's hair.

(5/25/06) - Helen McCrory will not be playing the part of Bellatrix Lestrange in the fifth Harry Potter movie as she is currently pregnant and will be unable to film by the time the Ministry scenes are shot. Helena Bonham Carter is her set replacement for the role. She appeared in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and played the part of Charlie's mother.

Apple Brook, who's appeared in stage, TV and film productions for more than 25 years, will portray Professor Grubbly-Plank, who takes over for Hagrid during the beginning portions of the movie.

Lastly, younger Sirius, Lupin, and Snape, who all appear in the scene "Snape's Worst Memory," will be played by James Walters, James Utechin, and Alec Hopkins, respectively. Also, Jason Piper will take on the role of the Centaur, Bane. It is unknown if he will just lend his voice for the part.

(5/18/06) - Mugglenet reader Hollie wrote in to their site reporting that filming for the Order of the Phoenix movie has taken place at Butler's Wharf, near Tower Bridge in London.

This is fairly logical because Order of the Pheonix director David Yates said this in an interview last May: "So far, we have spent a lot of time on boats on the Thames. I want to do a great big wizard chase past the London landmarks and it is going to be very exciting, but it has not been easy to set up."

(5/13/06) - Film Music Radio recieved a confirmation from Warner Brothers that Nicholas Hooper will be scoring the soundtrack for the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Hooper won the BAFTA for Best Original Score in 2004 and was nominated on several other occasions for similar prestigious awards.

(4/24/06) - MTV.com put up an interview with Rupert Grint, in which he discusses his upcoming film, Driving Lessons, as well as filming for Order of the Phoenix.

For now, he's knee-deep in shooting fight scenes for "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix," due July 13, 2007. Grint's already wrapped the scene where he and Harry take on Malfoy's henchman Crabbe and Goyle in Umbridge's office, and he's currently in a weeklong stretch where Potter teaches an underground Defense Against the Dark Arts class to a group of rebel students calling themselves Dumbledore's Army (see "Harry Potter's 'Phoenix' Begins Rising Next Week"). These take place in the Room of Requirement, a magical room that becomes whatever you need of it. The students need to learn to fight, so they practice stunning, disarming and other spells on one another.

"I'm dueling Hermione," Grint said, "and I get thrown back a lot, which we do with me wearing a harness. We're doing quite a few stunts, but the really big fight scenes are coming up."

(4/19/06) - BBC Radio 1's Jo Whiley show this morning included appearances by Rupert Grint and James and Oliver Phelps. Thanks to Mugglenet for the breif synopsis of the show:

The interview was slightly informative. We learn that all three love rock music, and that Rupert has a dressing room that is more like a den, with a dartboard, a pool table and a plasma screen TV. Also, Rupert said that he has just come from filming the scene in Umbridge's office with the Inquisitorial Squad, so at least we know that the writers aren't cutting that out! And, last but not least, when asked to say one word to describe the actors they're working with, they said that they think of Dan as "hyperactive," Gary Oldman as "cool," and Emma as "Different. Totally different from her character, totally." And Jo Whiley said "That's not one word..."

You can listen to the full interview at Mugglenet.

(4/14/06) - The German release date for OotP has been confirmed for July 12, 2007. Apparently, German movies are released on Thursdays, so this explains why it is being released a day earlier than in the US.

  • The filming of the kissing scene with Dan and Katie was not filmed as scheduled due to Dan's gastric flu. The filming of this scene has been postponed for several weeks.

  • Lately, the Room of Requirement as well as the Forbidden Forest scenes have been filmed, including the centaurs' rampage after Umbridge.

  • David Heyman said that the fifth film would be released either in the summer or fall of 2007, which would put the sixth movie for a release of late 2008. He also noted to expect a trailer by the end of the year.

(3/14/06) - The Harry Potter movies were honoured with the Empire Outstanding Contribution Award yesterday At the Sony Ericsson Empire Awards in London. Dan accepted the award, and Rupert, Emma, and David Heyman were also present.

In an interview with Empire, Dan, Rupert and David discussed Order of the Phoenix filming.

Producer David Heyman told us what theyve filmed to date. Weve done a little bit of action so far. Weve done some stuff involving centaurs and Grawp, who is Hagrids 16ft brother. The kids have to act against a lot of blue screen for characters like Grawp, but thankfully theyre used to that by now.

The interview, which includes insight on the new director as well as the challenged of adapting the Potter books into movies, can be seen here.
