An in-depth reference guide to nearly everything in the Harry Potter universe.

Diagon Alley
Before going to Hogwarts each year, every witch and wizard in Britian ventures into Diagon Alley. On this long street of magical stores, one can find everything they need for school supplies, ranging from wands and new books to robes and cauldrons.

The entrance to Diagon Alley is hidden from Muggles, although they are allowed entry if they wish to accompany their magical child (as seen with Hermione's parents in CoS.) In back of the Leaky Cauldron, a pub which appears on a Muggle street, there is a small room surrounded by brick walls. As Hagrid did for Harry on his first time there, one must tap the bricks in a specific order, thus opening to reveal Diagon Alley. Other methods of getting there include using the Floo Network (as shown by the Weasley's in Harry's second year), and probably Apparition.
