The APS-103M auxiliary power supply is an adjustable low voltage A.C. power supply for heating HPM .040X.080 Nichrome wire for use on the Arch Cutter, Base and Cap Cutter, etc.
Plug the wire lead from your machine into the output wire of the APS-103M , set the control knob to ZERO and turn on the power supply. Turn the knob clockwise until you get a meter reading of about 15 amps. We have determined that 15 amps of current flow will provide the proper wire heat for cutting 1 lb. foam. The setting of the adjusting knob will vary depending on the length of your cutting wire, the longer the wire the higher the setting on the adjusting knob to produce 15 amps. of current flow. The maximum voltage output is approximately 12 volts, this will heat about 36" of our .040x.080 Nichrome to the cutting temperature.
If you use wire from another supplier it may require a different amperage to produce the proper heat for cutting. We can not guarantee that the APS-103M will work properly with any wire except our HPM .040x.080 Nichrome wire. |
