A tall, 15 year old girl with brown hair and dark brown eyes walks onto Platform 9 ?dragging her trunk and other luggage behind her. The usual smile covers her face as she waves to friends. She walks closer to the train, occasionally looking at her watch. ? can? believe that I am on time..wouldn? Lizzie just..?but before she could even finish her sentence, someone had run into her and knocked her down. As she stood up, a 16-year-old girl got up too, laughing the whole time. ?ahaha..hey Alyssa!?Lizzie said as she brushed off her hands. Alyssa started laughing as she said, ?ow..I think we switched roles this year!?Alyssa was always late and always bumping into Lizzie, on accident of course, and Lizzie was always on time. ?et? go get a seat on the train..I want to find our own compartment.??k..right behind you!?Lizzie said as they walked on board the train. As they looked for an empty compartment, another girl came up to them. ?osh..I have been looking for you guys everywhere!?she said, while giving each of them a hug. ((guess who!)) ?ey Michelle!?they said together. ? already have a compartment?Michelle said. Michelle was another one of alyssa? friends, and she was also a prefect, which was very odd considering how young she was. They followed her to the compartment, but too soon, Alyssa saw her favorite cousin((haha..yeah)), Harry. Lizzie forced a smile at him and took a seat by Michelle. Harry and Lizzie and Michelle kinda got into a little, um, love triangle type thing and things were still a little weird. Harry hadn? talked to Alyssa in a while, but she just assumed it was because of that whole thing..but.. ?lyssa, we need to talk..?Harry said, while looking down at his feet. ?m..ok..we?l be back guys..?Alyssa said, almost nervously. Lizzie looked at Michelle, but she shrugged her shoulders and shook her head. Alyssa and Harry walked out of the compartment and a few minutes later they came back in. Harry didn? talk and when Alyssa walked in she forced a smile, which turned out to be a very weak one. As Alyssa sat down next to Lizzie, Lizzie whispered into her ear, ?hat happened??Alyssa shook her head and glanced over at harry. He was standing in the doorway, but then turned around saying ?m going to find Ron, I?l see you guys later..? He walked out of the compartment and Alyssa burst into tears. ?hat did he say??Michelle asked, her face serious and concerned. ?ou really don? want to know..you really don?!?alyssa said between sobs. ?ell us..we wont tell anyone..we promise!?Lizzie insisted. ?ell..i can tell you this much..we are in for a WILD year..,?alyssa cried. Lizzie and Michelle exchanged confused looks and turned back toward alyssa. ?ell us what he said?lizzie said quietly. Alyssa looked at them, and dried the tears from her eyes. ?k?his is what he said?you know how he wouldn? talk to me for the longest time? well, he told me why today?e said that his scar has been hurting again and that he has heard voices?lots of them? ?ou mean more than just you-know-who??Michelle asked, her voice shaking slightly. ?eah..that? what I mean?and harry said that he has heard they are coming to Hogwarts? ?ell, that just means that dumbledore will have to keep an eye out on him? lizzie said, trying to sound convincing. ?h, i wish it was that simple? alyssa whispered. ?hat the heck does that mean??Michelle said, a little too loudly. ?ou don? mean they are after you too??lizzie asked, looking shocked. Alyssa looks up at her, her eyes starting to fill with tears again. ?hey arent just after me and him?they are after you guys too?.? Lizzie stood up and started pacing the little space in the compartment. ?hat do you mean? after us? why us?? Alyssa stares at her shoes. ?on? you get it? voldemort is after all of harry? friends?e is going after each of us, just to make harry scared and turn himself right over to him!?Michelle cringed when she heard Voldemort? name and put her head in her hands. ?e knows harry would give his life to save us?e knows that and is using it to his advantage!?alyssa said, more to herself than to the other two. They were silent for a while and then lizzie sat back down next to alyssa and gave her a hug. ?hat are we going to do??lizzie asked, still stunned at whats going on. ?es already told dumbledore?ut the whole reason he wouldn? talk to me is so that I wouldn? be in as much danger?ut theres still you two and everyone else?.every single person? alyssa said, barely able to be heard. Michelle took her head out of her hands, her face covered in tears. They sat for a while before anyone said anything, but michelle was the first to start talking again. ?e, um, better get ready, we will be there soon?? Alyssa walked into the Great Hall and toward the gryffindor table, waving to people on the way. Lizzie points to a seat that she has saved. Alyssa runs quickly, as dumbledore stands up to address the school. She says hi to harry and ron before turning to lizzie. ?here were you? as soon as we were off the train you were gone!?lizzie scolded((haha..yeah sure!)). ? was helping hagrid with a first year that had fallen into the lake?alyssa said laughing. Lizzie laughed. They didn? talk about anything that had happened on the train, but acted perfectly normal. Dumbledore started talking,?elcome back to another great year at hogwarts. Before we start the sorting ceremony I would like to make a few announcements.? He started going over the usual rules of the school, and alyssa started talking again, but in a whisper. ?ey?uess what I heard? heard that dumbledore is hand picking the prefects this year?nd no one knows who they are?e said that he is looking for some different qualities in them this year? wonder what that means..?alyssa told lizzie as dumbledore was now telling everyone that the forbidden forest, was well, forbidden to any students. ?aha?ould you see george and fred as prefects?!?lizzie laughed as she looked back toward dumbledore. They stopped talking as dumbledore continued. ? would now like to announce the prefects for this year? have decided that age doesn? matter, but the qualities and leadership values the people have are most valuable.?He said this, looking over all the faces eager to here the names. He announced prefects from the neighboring houses, all of which were expected, being that the people he chose were very smart, very responsible, and had model behaviors. He paused as he got to the gryffindor table, and a smile spread across his face. ? had a really hard time with this house?ut I think that I have chosen the best ones for the job?they are? ?arry Potter,? alyssa looked at lizzie and they both started laughing. The sorting ceremony had passed and they had eaten as much as possible. They thought that the night couldn? get any weirder, but they were wrong, cause dumbledore then announced, ?ou may all go to your common rooms now, the class schedules will be given out tomorrow morning at breakfast. The gryffindor house would have a rough year..he had told dumbledore about his scar and the voices and he had also filled in ron about it. Alyssa had told everything to lizzie on the train. The four made their way up the usual flights of stairs to the common room, each of them silent, still thinking about what dumbledore had said. We are the craziest group of prefects hogwarts has ever seen!?they came to the front of the portrait and stood there waiting. ?id anyone get the password? Harry went up to the portrait and started pounding on it. ?et us in!?Fred and george were the ones to answer it, laughing the whole time the four were walking through. ?o you guys are the new prefects huh? I think dumbledore is crazy..its like a bomb waiting to explode in his face!?fred laughed. ?eah..one of OUR bombs!?george added. As they made there way to the gryffindor table, people in the other houses would point and laugh. Alyssa took a seat and lizzie and michelle also sat down, grabbing toast and jam from the center of the table. Harry and ron came walking up, rons ears almost as red as his hair and harry looking like he wanted to punch someone. ?hy cant they just leave us alone??harry mumbled as he bit off a piece of toast. ?w, come on, everyone will have forgotten by tomorrow,?michelle said assuredly. Ron pulled out a book, titled, How to be the Perfect Prefect ((haha..how corny can I get?haha)) and opened the first page. Alyssa looked over his shoulder at the 1100 rules listed in alphabetical order. ?ops..ive already broken the first , er, 412 rules..i guess that? not a good thing huh??alyssa said as smiled innocently. Ron threw the book on the table and sighed. ?e are never gonna be able to pull this off..? just then, all the owls had arrived with the mail and a letter fell onto ron? plate. Alyssa and michelle got up and followed her out of the hall, the sounds of laughing and snickering following them all the way out the door. Michelle was the first in the dungeons, and soon lizzie was there too with all of her books ready. Harry and ron walked in, followed by malfoy, who was making jokes that only crabbe and goyle laughed at. Ron, however, was too busy looking at his watch to notice that his potion had started bubbling over the rim. ?R. WEASLEY!?snape yelled, making the whole class jump about a foot into the air. Ron looked up, and suddenly realized what was happening. Snape walked toward him, and an evil smile crossed his face. ? would have expected a prefect to be able to do a simple potion as this one.?he glared at ron, at the mess on the floor, then at harrys pink potion. ?nd mr. Potter..hm..cant handle it can you? if I had picked the prefects, you would be at the VERY bottom of the list..and ms. Potter..?alyssa glanced at her potion, which looked almost normal, then snape continued, ? see that ms. Rogerson has been telling you how to do the potion..five points from gryffindor for cheating!?he said, as alyssa opened her mouth to argue, but decided it was better to stay quiet this time. he smiled, seeing how much they were hating this, but he wasn? done yet..he turned to lizzie. ? think, ms. Rogerson, that you have picked some VERY bad friends.? malfoy and his ?osy?were behind snape laughing silently and making faces at all of them. snape turned around and walked to the front of the room and turned around to say one last thing to them. ?y, my..wouldn? dumbledore love to see his prefects now..? Class seemed to take forever to end, but eventually they walked out of the room, all of them so angry that if they opened their mouths they might accidentally say something inappropriate. Michelle was so angry at malfoy that she had ?ccidentally?knocked over his potion, causing the whole thing to fall onto malfoy. She had gotten d-hall, but she was still happy that he hadnt gotten away with his horrible attitude. ? cant believe snape..? lizzie said, holding her book so tightly that her knuckles were turning white. ?e made fools out of all of us..like that? anything new..but I cant believe he talked to you like that! They had been in the room, waiting for the new professor to come in, and had taken seats in the back. They were talking with some of the other gryffindors who had class with them when the door handle turned and opened. The class got quiet, having no idea who to expect walk through the door. The next few weeks passed like a blur and they were no longer being laughed or pointed at. Michelle still hadnt returned and when they had asked professor mcgonagall about it, she would change the subject. They made their way to professor dumbledore? office, which was only visited during serious matters. She stopped before opening the door and said, ?tay here, it will only be a minute.?They didn? talk, or even look at each other, until professor mcgonagall came out and said, ?s. Potter, we need to see you.? Alyssa walked in, giving a scared look to ron and lizzie. The door was closed and they waited in silence. Ten minutes passed..20 minutes.. ?hat do you think they are talking about?? ron asked, breaking the silence. ? don? know,?lizzie answered. A few more seconds passed and lizzie spoke up again, ?o..do you think harry knew about what was going to happen??ron stared at a crack in the floor, and then answered, ? think so.?they didn? say another word, until the door opened. Dumbledore sat behind his desk, quiet for a few moments, as if searching for the right words. ?ell, im sure both of you have figured out that voldemort is back.? They both nodded, waiting to hear more. Dumbledore continued, ?his morning, he attacked a couple and now they are..dead. Voldemort is now back to full power, and what I need you two to do is to watch harry and alyssa VERY carefully.?Lizzie, trying to figure this out, asked, ?ell, of course we need to watch harry, but alyssa??Dumbledore looked at her and his voice wasn? as calm as it usually was, and said, ?ES! Dumbledore smiled and said, ?ou may go back to the common room, I believe that harry and alyssa are already there.?As they made their way out, lizzie turned around and said, ?ut professor, doesn? everyone already know what happened??Professor Dumbledore smiled and answered, ?hey know SOMETHING happened they just are sure to who. I expect it will only be a matter of hours before the truth is out.? They walked back up to the common room, hearing a few people walk by telling their version of what had heard about the recent events. They made their way to the through the common room, most of the gryffindors in there telling about the particular version they had heard. Ron went up to the boys dorm as lizzie made her way up to the girls. Once she got there, she found alyssa sitting on her bed looking through a book. No one else was in there; everyone was too busy trying to find out what had happened. Lizzie made her way over to alyssa? bed and sat down. She couldn? say anything, but she didn? need to. She hugged alyssa, and alyssa started crying again. ?hanks liz..i appreciate it.?Another girl walked in and asked, ?hats wrong?? alyssa answered, ?h I just got something in my eye.?The girl nodded and then said, ?id you hear? You-know-who killed a whole town full of people!? she ran out of the dorm and back down to the common room. Lizzie looked at alyssa and smiled. ?onder how long they are going to believe it..? alyssa said, looking down at a picture of her family. Harry and ron were the only guys in their dorm room also. They didn? really talk, just stared at the wall. Finally ron spoke up. ?id you know that was going to happen.?harry looked over to him and said, ?ell, kind of. My scar was hurting, but I didn? have any dreams. I told dumbledore about my scar two days ago, but there was nothing he could do to change what happened.??eah, I guess your right,?ron said, as his turned back to the wall. They didn? say anything more until it was time to go to dinner, which was something they were NOT looking forward too. The four of them made their way down to the great hall for dinner, acting as normal as they could possibly get. They ate their dinner and thought that maybe, just maybe, it would go by without the truth of the story coming out. As they were getting up to leave the table, Malfoy jumped up onto the slytherin table and yelled, ? KNOW THE TRUE STORY! THERE WASN? A WHOLE TOWN KILLED, IT WAS JUST TWO PEOPLE!?Everyone had stopped and stood still, while alyssa began to become very nervous. Professor mcgonagall was trying to make her way to the slytherin table before draco said another word, but she didn? get there in time. ?T WAS THE OTHER STINKIN? POTTERS?LYSSA? PARENTS!?the whole room seemed to turn their heads toward alyssa, who just stood there, staring back. Many people were whispering to each other saying, ?t couldn? be them!??e has to be lying!? Lizzie opened her mouth as if to say something, but nothing could fix what had just happened. Malfoy had an evil grin on his face, but was yanked down by one of the professors. Professor Dumbledore went in front of everyone and said, ?ould everyone please sit down. I need to say something.?Everyone sat down, but people still would turn to look at alyssa. She was not crying, just sitting there. Dumbledore began to speak, ? was wondering how long it would take for the truth to come out.?Everyone looked up at him and someone yelled out, ?ou mean he was telling the truth?!?Dumbledore nodded and continued. ?his morning, voldemort killed the potters. He is back, and we all need to face the truth. We need to be extremely careful around here. We are on full security. We are monitoring all the mail going in and out of here, and there are people guarding all entrances to the castle. We need all of you to stay calm and go back up to your common rooms. You will receive more information there.? Everyone walked out of the room, many girls crying and some walking by to tell alyssa sorry. She just sat there and stared at the table. Soon, everyone had left except for them, and they got up too. The halls were quiet and the only sound that could be heard was their foot steps. None of them said anything until alyssa spoke up. ?ell, I wonder how long its going to take him to come here.?lizzie answered quickly, ?ou just heard dumbledore say that there is no way he can get into here.?ron added, ?hey have this place under full alert?here is NO WAY that he is going to get to you two.?Harry stopped and looked at them. ?re you two crazy?! He has killed A LOT of people, including my parents and her parents. Do you know how heavily guarded her parents were? Next morning, lizzie was the first one at breakfast. She sat there, still thinking about what all had happened, and nibbled on a piece of bread. A few more people came in and took a seat at their own table and whispered about the night before. Eventually ron showed up, and took a seat next to lizzie. ?lyssa coming down??ron asked, picking up a banana. ? don? know..is harry coming down??lizzie asked in a monotone voice. ?ho knows..he was REALLY angry last night!?ron said, taking a bite off the banana. ?eah, just a little!?alyssa said taking a seat across from them. They looked up and lizzie forced a smile. ?ey, are you sure you want to come to class today??alyssa took a drink of juice then said, ?eah, I think I can handle it..maybe..?A few hufflepuff girls walked by and began whispering as soon as they passed, and alyssa rolled her eyes. ?ow you know how I feel!?harry said, taking a seat next to her. Alyssa looked up and for the first time in a day smiled saying, ?eah, now you can say you are related to the famous alyssa potter!?Harry rolled his eyes and started laughing, ?eah, maybe they will leave me alone for a while!?The four of them got up and were leaving the room when the mail arrived. Before they could get out the door, a owl swooped down in front of ron giving him a letter. ?m?guess who this is from!?he said, ripping it open and reading it. ?ell??lizzie asked, looking over his shoulder trying to read it. he passed it back to her. As all this was going on, owl were bombarding alyssa with tons of letters, and before she knew it, they were up to her knees. ?h..guys..can I get some help here?? After a few days, the letters had stopped, but they laid un-open in a big box under alyssa?bed. ?hy don? you open them??lizzie asked, staring at the huge pile. ?ll have plenty of time to read them over the holidays..? alyssa said almost in a sigh as they left the dorm room. People still had not stopped whispering behind her back, and there were still many people who gave her sympathetic looks. The four of them were on their way to class, about a week later, when a kid ran by yelling, ?LL PREFECTS REPORT TO DUMBLEDORE!?They all turned around and made their way to his office. ?onder what he wants..?ron said, going down the stairs two at a time. ?robably wants to tell us what we need to do to insure safety, or something important like that,?alyssa said, trying to beat ron by going down three at a time. ?r maybe he just wants to tell us how we are his best prefects ever!?lizzie said as she ran down the stairs, reaching the bottom before the rest. ?a! I beat you all!?she laughed, doing a victory dance ((hm..id like to see that!)). Harry had just taken the stairs one at a time, and finally reached the bottom. ?hats bugging you? you usually beat everyone!? ron commented as they continued walking. ?h..nothing..?harry said quickly trying to avoid their gaze. Lizzie looked uncomfortably at alyssa who also looked a little bit nervous ((a little bit, not a lot!)). ?h..nothing? don? sound very good if you ask me,?lizzie said, trying to get harry to tell them whats going on. ?eally, its nothing!?Harry said forcefully as they made their way through dumbledore? office door. Of course, they were the last to get there, but that was no surprise. Dumbledore smiled at them as they took a seat near the back of the room, away from all the other prefects. ? asked you all in here today to tell you how you should insure the safety of the other students. ((alyssa turned to lizzie and said, ? told you!?)?He went through a long list of the old rules they still needed to inforce and some new rules to keep everyone safe. The rules went on and on, and by the end, all the other prefects had taken 5 pages of notes, while ron and harry had fallen asleep and lizzie and alyssa were trying hard to keep their eyes open. ?hat? all I have to say. You may return to class.?The rest of the prefects got up, looking back through the notes they had taken. Harry and ron woke with a start when they heard the door open. They got up to leave the room, when Dumbledore stopped them. ? need to talk to you four in private.?Ron sighed deeply, ? knew we werent going to get out of here so easily.? They sat back down and dumbledore brought each of them a red letter, with their name written on it in gold. ?h great..another one to add to my collection!?alyssa said sarcastically. ? think you are going to want to read this one before you throw it in the box under your bed,? dumbledore said with a slight smile on his face. Alyssa looked up with a shocked look on her face and was about to say something, but decided not to. Lizzie eyed hers, which didn't look as thick as everyone else. want you all to read this tonight, when everyone else is asleep. There are some instructions and rules that I have written up for each of you. You each HAVE TO follow these rules otherwise your lives may be in danger. Please follow the rules for once, he ended, with a smile across his face. They left the room each of them staring at their own letter. Classes were, as usual, boring with tons of homework, but none of them were concentrating on the work they had to do. The red letter in lizzie's book bag was constantly attracting her attention, and alyssa had to put it in one of her books so she could get it out of her mind. The classes ended, dinner passed, and they were in the dorms waiting for everyone else to go to sleep. Alyssa had put the letter under her pillow and acted like she was sleeping as everyone else was starting to doze off. Soon, the room was filled with the rhythmic breathing and they knew it was safe to read it. Lizzie sat up looking at alyssa who nodded and took out her wand. "Lumos," they whispered together, their wands both giving off light. Lizzie took hers out and began to open it, taking out several sheets of paper. Alyssa nervously opened her own, taking out triple the number of pages that lizzie had. Going to the boys dorm, they had already opened their own letters and were reading them. Neither one of them looked up from the letter, and even though ron was done before harry, he went back to read his again. By 3 in the morning they had all finished their letters and were trying to find sleep, without much success.
