| Daniel 6:1-10 | ||||||
| Here we are reading about King Darius and a guy named Daniel. Daniel was one of three Governors to protect the King. The King liked Daniel and the other governors and satraps became jealous of him. Daniel was a guy who loved the Lord and prayed to God everyday. These other gentleman knew that Daniel was liked and prayed everyday, so they started thinking of a way to get Daniel in trouble. These guys came up with a new statue or decree for the people to follow. It was that anyone who does not honor only the King shall be put into a den of lions. These guys went to the King asking him to sign this new decree into law. Well, if you know Kings, they love to have power, glory and honor. King Darius signed this decree into law. Anyone who does not honor the King will be thrown into a lions den. Eventually the person thrown into the den would be killed. The other officials knew that Daniel prayed to God three times a day, so when they caught Daniel praying they brought him to the King. The King asked Daniel if this was true and Daniel admitted to the charge. King Darius threw Daniel into the lions dens, but instead of being killed by the lions - God protected Daniel from them. The point of this story is that there are people in this world that do not want to see you succeed in life. If we take advise from Daniel, continue to trust in the Lord God Almighty and he will protect you and bless you. Just like he did for Daniel here in this story. Updated 2/27/05 |
