My New Friend On Christmas day I got the cutest call on 911 that went something like this; 911 Emergency (I hear dialing in my ear) Hello, you've reached 911 do you have an emergency? Hello? (Small child talking) Hi! Hi, what's your name? (We will call him Johnny) Johnny Hi Johnny my name is Linda, what ya doing Johnny? I got a new sled. Are you opening Christmas presents? Going to go sledding, did your house get dumped on because mine did, covered with snow....sledding Johnny is your mom or dad there Do you know their names? Sure Mom and Dad Not those names their other ones. No I sure don't do you know what their names are? My mom is Cindy, my dad's name is Gary and my neighbor is Robert Can I talk with one of them? Do they know you? Just tell them it is Linda calling from the Sheriff's Department (small gasp) Did you call 911 Johnny? playing with my mom's cell phone, pushed the big gray button, then I pushed it again and I got you on the phone. I think that big gray button is to use to call for emergencies Johnny, like if someone was hurt and you needed to get them help, or the house caught on fire, or you need a policeman. oh Can I talk to your mom and dad can I just hang up now No, don't hang up, your not in trouble Johnny I just need to talk to your mom or your dad can you call them for me? okay (he yells) MOM...DAD it Linda from the Sheriffs office (He yells again) DADDDD...MOMMMM, it is my NEW FRIEND LINDA from the Sheriff's office (I start giggling, as his last words just made my Christmas very special) (whispering) Dad, it's Linda my friend from the Sheriff's Office (Dad picks up the phone) Hi, this is Linda from the Sheriff's Department, Johnny called me on 911 is everything okay? Oh yes, my wife got a new cell phone and we had given him the old one, it even has the SIMS card out of it, we didn't think it would call anyone. (laughing) well it calls 911 still. I just wanted to make sure everything was okay and talk with a parent. I already talked to Johnny about when to call 911 but we had a really nice talk and we are friends now, so I was a little afraid he might try to call me back to visit more, how old is Johnny?
