Thursday 10/24/02 - Timothy had his first Hormone Injection yesterday, almost a month since his last appointment. It took awhile to get through the red tape - paperwork, insurance, delivery of medication, and training.  But, we had the most wonderful surprise yesterday.  We knew a nurse from Home Health would be coming to train Timothy and I how to use the injection pen.  We also knew it wouldn't be through the Home Health group that had been with us all through his treatment.  Timothy was a little disappointed because he was hoping to see one of his favorite nurses, Hazel.  Much to our delight, Hazel is now working for this other Home Health company and she is the one who came out!  It was great to see her again.  How did the injection go?  Well, I think the pen is a little bulky and awkward, but maybe just because I am used to a needle and syringe.  Timothy, eventually, wants to give the injections to himself, but for now he wants me to do it until he gets used to it.  He will have the injections every evening.  The nice thing about the pen is that the medication is premeasured so you can't give too much/too little and there is also a lock so the needle is safe.  This way if Timmy goes overnight somewhere, he can safely take his injection with him.

If you haven't yet purchased your 2003 calendar, you might consider the Make-A-Wish calendar.  It should come out by the end of this month.  I haven't seen it yet, but I am told Timothy is in there!
Thank you for your continued prayer.  Ginny

10/30/02 - Timothy has had a cold for a few days now.  We don't rush him into doctor with every little bug, but then he has been nauseous off and on since Monday and has been missing school.  He also had a headache today so we decided to go in a week early for his Oncology visit.   He got an x-ray of chest and sinus area and started on an antibiotic.  He also got a shot of the cortisone medication that he takes each day.  He is actually supposed to take double the dose when he is not feeling well, yet he couldn't take it at all this a.m. because he threw up twice.  The doctor was right - a couple of hours later he felt so much better.  We will remember this in the future if he is unable to take this medication that it is important to come in for a shot.  No more headache tonight.  We should get results from x-rays tomorrow.  Timothy's hormone injections shouldn't have anything to do with his symptoms.  He hasn't tried to give himself an injection yet.  In time.....   Love, Ginny

Wednesday 11/13/02 - Timothy feeling well lasted about a week.  He again is having the bouts of nausea.  Why is this happening again?  We don't know.  This is nothing new for Timmy.  A year ago even off treatment, the same thing.  He is always much worse in the a.m. (like morning sickness), feels better if he gets sick and usually does okay throughout the day.  Timmy was sick this a.m., went to school, came home before lunch, got sick again and did okay (not great) the rest of the day.  We are making sure that his cortisol is being taken so those levels don't drop.  Timmy had his eye appointment today.  He will need a stronger prescription.  I asked the doctor if there was anything that we need to be watchful for because of the chemotherapy treatment.  He said cataracts if he took cortisone as part of his treatment.  Timmy didn't have the cortisone as part of his treatment but he has been taking it since last February when we discovered that his brain wasn't producing this chemical anymore.  The doctor checked and said he does have a small cataract developing in the right eye.  Just a small spot, but he will be watching it.  A matter for prayer...

December 1, 2002 - Already!  It's December.  We are so thankful to be at the place we are right now with Timothy and his treatment.  Over a year in remission, in school, doing well, smiling!   As grateful as I am that Timothy can start to move forward in his health and in his life, I don't want to forget what he (& we) have been through....., because forgetting the pain, fear and horror of it all would also be forgetting how great God's hand has been in the whole process.  He gave us hope and peace and comfort when we needed it.  THAT, I do not want to ever forget.  Thank you dear friends for following this journey with your prayers and love.  Timothy's next MRI is scheduled for December 18th.  Love, Ginny

Thursday 12/19/02 - MRI is CLEAR!  So sorry not to update this yesterday, but we got the great news today.  Thank you so much for praying..  This is a wonderful Christmas gift to us all!  Timothy has been feeling great.  His growth hormone injections are going well.  We will see the Endocrinologist in January to follow up with these.  Love, Ginny

Thursday 01/30/03 - I apologize for being so long in updating the site.  I am having a little trouble with my computer.  If you are reading this now, you will have noticed the new picture on the site with Timothy and the Dolphin from his Make-A-Wish Trip.  Thanks to our "Webmaster Carol, and friends" you will soon see more new pictures.

We did not have Timothy's Endocrinology appointment as planned last Friday.  His doctor was no longer working at this particular facility (UCI), so we had to make a new appointment at her home office.  Timmy was disappointed because he had looked forward to this appointment for some time (checking in to see how he was doing and how the growth hormone was working), and we only found out about the cancellation on the day of the appointment.  He is rescheduled for the 14th of February.  Timothy continues to do well.  He is participating in more physical activities and seems to be regaining his strength and stamina more.  Thank you all for your prayers.  Love, Ginny

Monday 02/24/02 - Timothy had 2 doctors appointments recently.  His Endocrinology appointment showed he had grown 1-1/2" which tells us the growth hormone is working.  He will continue with these injections.  When Timmy had his Oncology appointment he was feeling pretty sick with a cold.  Thankfully there was no fever, but he did miss 3 days of school.  Timothy had his blood checked and everything looks normal - Hooray!  Timmy will have another MRI next month rather than April.  His doctor would like to keep him on the 3 month schedule, especially because he is on growth hormone.  Yesterday we were treated to a fun day a "Boomers" (mini golf, laser tag etc.) with OCF-OCF the Oncology Foundation for children.  This is the group that we go to camp with twice a year.  It was really fun to visit again with the families.  Highlight of the day - Timothy made it to the top of the rock climbing wall and rang the bell!  Last year about this time he was only able to go half way up without feeling exhausted.  It was wonderful to see him regaining strength.  Timothy also got his report card this past week.  Wow!  It couldn't have been better.  We praise God for how He protected Timothy's brain through out surgery, radiation and chemotherapy.  Never cease praying.  Thank you.  Ginny
