| Tuesday 2/26/02 - It has been exactly 2 weeks since I last wrote. I am losing track of the time, which is probably a good thing that there isn't a crisis every week. Timmy has been having bouts of nausea - again. Very similar to his pattern that started in Dec. Sometime he throws up and other days he feels great. I spoke to the Endocrinolgist and the Oncologist today and gave them each his schedule for the last two weeks and how he has been doing. I don't want to go into panic mode, but we do need to stop the vomiting. We have decided to keep him on the Cortisol, because not having enough in your system can make you nauseous. He also started taking Zantec tonight to see if that will settle his Tummy for the a.m. Timmy weighed in at 80 today, which is not too light, however he was 85lbs 10 days ago so we need to watch the weight. Timmy's next MRI is scheduled for 3/22 (the soonest they had), however if he is not better soon, we will ask the Dr. office to call and try to bump it up. Your continued prayer is much appreciated. Love, Ginny Thursday 3/7/02 - Timothy had a pretty good week but continues to battle the nausea. He had a field trip with his class this past Monday to Mojeska Canyon and did a lot of hiking. He was tired, but able to keep up. At his appointment yesterday his doctor decided to put him back on the Magease. He seems to do better when he is on this medication. She is also switching from the Zantec to a different stomach medication, Prevacid. Thank you for praying. Love, Ginny Saturday 3/15/02 - Timmy is doing much better. He is eating well and feeling no nausea the past few days. He will have his MRI this Friday 3/22. Thank you for praying. Love, Ginny Friday 3/22/02 - MRI IS CLEAR!! You faithful prayer warriors, thank you! Timmy has had a great week. Back to his normal healthy eating. He has been feeling really good. After the MRI today we stopped by to say "Hi" to Timmy's Radiation Dr. (Dr. Shea). It was really fun to visit with him and the staff that took such great care of Timmy in the early, horrible days. In May, Make-A-Wish is sending Timothy (and family - hooray) to Hawaii!! What a wonderful gift this is to us. Timothy's "wish" is to swim with the dolphins. We are counting the days and will enjoy our trip all the more now that we have a clean MRI and Timmy is doing so well. Love, Ginny Tuesday 4-2-02 - Timothy is continuing to feel well and to have a good appetite. He started a bowling class last week, along with his brother. I thought this would be a good, easy intro back into exercise. Not too strenuous. Timmy also continues to enjoy the soccer and softball his 5th grade classes particpates in once a week. No doctor appointments scheduled until the 12th of this month. If you live in Orange County, you may have access to the OC Family magazine. This is a free newspaper type magazine you can find by other newspaper stands. Anyway, there is an article about CHOC's reintegration program featuring Timmy and his teachers. You can also look this up at ocfamily.com. The article starts on page 34. Thank you again for your many prayers. Love, Ginny Friday 4/12/02 - Please join us as we pray for Timmy's Oncologist, Dr. Shen. She has been diagnosed with breast cancer and it is in the lymph nodes as well. We are greatly saddened. Although we know cancer has no boundaries and can strike anyone, it is still a shock. We feel assured that Timothy will continue to get excellent care from the Oncology "team" at CHOC. Sunday 4/21/02 - The Orange Rotary, in conjunction with Make-A-Wish treated our family to a special day at the Long Beach Aquarium. A "send off" for Timmy's Wish of swimming with the dolphins. It was our first visit to the aquarium and we had a wonderful time. Once again we are so humbled and blessed by the generosity of others. Both Timmy and Trenton have been studying Marine life at school this past month, so they knew a lot about what they were seeing; which made it extra fun and interesting! Sometimes Timmy seems a little embarrassed and a bit shy about all of the attention. No appointments until we get back from our trip to Hawaii, then Timmy will meet with the Endocrinologist and again with the Oncologist. Thank you for your continued prayer! Monday 5/13/02 - We have returned from Timmy's "Wish Trip" to Hawaii. What a wonderful time it was just to be together, all of us as a family AND especially with Timmy feeling well. Timmy loved his encounter with the Dolphins. We also got to learn how to surf (from the Firemen of Hawaii), we went to a Luau and we went snorkling. We also climbed Dimond Head. That in itself was a victory for Timmy. Believe me, it was quite a hike and very steep!! We will forever be grateful to Make A Wish and all of the generous people that donate to this organization that made Timothy's wish possible. Today was back to school, back to work, and an Endocrinology apt. for Timmy. The Endocrinologist will check him again at the end of July and then he will start growth hormone. She sent us home with some booklets regarding the hormone and a video. She told Timmy there was a choice between a once a week shot that was pretty painful, or an every day shot that was not very painful. He didn't have to think about it long - the every day shot for him. This Thursday we have an Oncology appointment. Timothy will have another MRI in July. We are in the processing of arranging that now. Thank you for praying. Love, Ginny Tuesday 5/28/02 - As I was thinking today that it had been awhile since I have updated the web site, I thought that there isn't really much to "report", but I want share with you how amazing each day is!! I'm not really sure how to put this into words, but each day that we wake up and Timmy is doing well and we don't have to go to the hospital and put Timmy through chemo or radiation or a transfusion or......instead, the normalcy of going to school, doing chores, even minor arguments with his younger brother - what a blessing! Yes, you heard me right. It means Trenton doesn't feel like Timmy is too sick to even argue with and Timothy feels well enough to state his opinion, and then some. I guess what I am saying is that we are grateful and more aware of the blessing of each new day. Timothy's MRI is scheduled for June 11th. Thank you for praying. Love, Ginny |
