| Saturday, July 1, 2000 Timothy went to a family party at his Grandfather's house! Holding food down is still a challenge. (CL) Sunday, July 2, 2000 Timothy has had his best day yet! He went to church with his family in the morning. As of 6:30 PM, he has not been "sick" once. Late update - Tim went the entire day holding down his food! That was the first time since Timothy's operation. (CL) Monday, July 3, 2000 Tim had chemo at 9:40 AM and radiation at 1:30 PM. After his radiation, he "got sick" at least 10 times. For hydration, Tim was admitted into the hospital Monday night. (CL) Tuesday, July 4, 2000 Hospital day 2. Timothy was seen by a gastronomic doctor. [gastronomy (noun): art or science of good eating] He is prescribing some different medications for Timothy. The doctor said that if they don't work, they will give Tim "the scope." I assume that means that they will stick a very small camera, that is at the end of a tube, down Tim's throat and into his stomach to see what is going on in there. Let us pray that the medications work. Timothy will stay Tuesday night in the hospital. He will be re-evaluated on Wednesday. (CL) Wednesday, July 5, 2000 Hospital day 3. Timothy will be spending another night in the hospital. Tomorrow, he will have a "scope procedure" done at 1:30 PM. I believe it is called a gastroscopy. [gastroscopy: examintaion of the lining of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum (first part of the small intestine) by means of a long, flexible viewing tube inserted through the mouth.] (CL) Thursday, July 6, 2000 Hospital day 4. The scope procedure did not reveal any abnormalities. (CL) Friday, July 7, 2000 Timothy came home from the hospital this afternoon. (CL) Monday, July 10, 2000 Timothy had chemo at 10:00 AM and radiation at 1:30 PM, today. This was Tim's second radiation treatment. It went much better than his first treatment, last Monday. Since his radiation treatment, Tim did get sick once, but it was a very small amount. He also ate some for dinner. Yeah, Tim! Hopefully, all will stay down. Tim will also get some nutrition through an I.V., tonight. Tomorrow, Tim will have radiation, again. He is scheduled to have it everyday this week. Nutrition through an I.V. is also scheduled every night this week. Tim has got that arrow on the weight scale swinging higher. He is making up some "lost ground." Go, Tim, go! (CL) Tuesday, July 11, 2000 Tim had a radiation treatment, today, at 1:30 PM. Today has not been one of Tim's good days. He has been "getting sick" a number of times after the radiation, a bad day after yesterday's good day. Personally, I vote for all good days for Tim. (CL) Thursday, July 13, 2000 A radiation day. Tim had a good day, today. He felt good in the morning. In the afternoon, after his 11:00 radiation treatment, he felt good, too. It was great that Tim was laughing and playing games with one of his buddies. Just to update you on Tim trying Hawaiian poi to halt nausea - they didn't order more poi from Hawaii. Once Tim throws something up, he has a really hard time trying to eat/drink it again. This is even true with some of the foods Tim use to love. Oh, well. It was a good try. (CL) Friday, July 14, 2000 A radiation day. It was a hard time at radiation. Tim's stomach hurt and he has to lie on his stomach for radiation. He was tired of feeling sick. (CL) Sunday, July 16, 2000 Tomorrow, Tim is scheduled for chemo and radiation. (CL) Prayer Requests from Tim's Parents 1. Prayer for Timothy to hold down fluids, and food, too. 2. Prayer for courage for Timothy as he faces the reality of how difficult this is. (How many more days? When will this be over? When will he feel better?) 3. Prayer for his parents. They will have some decisions to make as the new school year starts. Should Tim go back to school or should he be home schooled? Will he be ready for school? What about all the germs at school? Tim's parents are in need of guidance. Upcoming Vacation Timothy is looking forward to vacation on his Grandpa's boat at the end of August. At that time, Tim will have gone through 8 weeks of his schedule of chemo and radiation treatments. The doctors then let Tim have a month off with no chemo or radiation. Tim is looking forward to fishing off the dock, swimming and maybe a little jet skiing. Hang in there Tim, August is coming! Monday, July 17, 2000 Today, Timothy had a chemo treatment and a radiation treatment. He was feeling sick and sleepy, today. The doctors are changing some of Tim's medications, again, in an effort to help him keep fluids and food down. Each night this week, Tim will be getting fluids and nutrition through an I.V. Each day, Tim will have radiation treatments. (CL) Tuesday, July 18, 2000 A radiation day. Timothy had a good day. Maybe it is the new medication he started on Monday. He did a lot of sleeping, but did very little throwing up. (CL) |
