| Friday 12/8/00 - Great News! Timothy's labs from yesterday show his white blood count at 20.9 so he gets to quit the daily shots 5 days early! He's thrilled about that. No Chemo next week, just labs Mon. and Thurs. Love, Ginny Monday 12/11/00 - Timothy had lab work done today and his WBC is still good. It's down from 20 to 8, but that's still very good. Trenton and I are fighting off colds so we appreciate your prayer of protection over Timothy. Love, Ginny Thursday 12/14/00 - Timothy has been feeling well. He will have more lab work done tomorrow. Please pray that his count remains steady. He will be in the hospital to get Chemo 12/18 and 12/19. Then he will have an MRI on 12/20. We pray that the MRI will remain clear. Thanks you. Love, Ginny Tuesday 12/19/00 - Timothy had a hearing test yesterday before the Chemo started and it is 100% perfect! This a.m. he had a fever of 101.6 so he won't be released today. Maybe tomorrow, we'll see if the fever stays down. Tomorrow is also the MRI at 3:00 so we may go there directly from the hospital. Thank you for praying. Love, Ginny Wednesday 12/20/00 - Thank you for praying for Timothy. His fever went down on Tuesday and stayed down. He tolerated the Chemo well and did not get sick even once! We waited most of the day today to get his MRI, just to find out there was a scheduling error/communication problem. Timothy did not get the MRI, he will be rescheduled probably next week sometime. I'll keep uou posted. We appreciate each one of you who checks in. Love, The Salas Family Monday 12/25/00 - Merry Christmas to you all. We have so much to be thankful for this year and appreciate each one of you. Thursday last week we were invited to go see the Christmas lights in Newport Harbor with Make-A-Wish foundation. The whole family was excited to go, but we canceled our plans in the a.m. because my cold still wasn't gone and I didn't think the cold air would be a good idea. Timothy had been well all day, but that night (right about the time we would have been out on the Harbor on the Catalina Flyer) Timothy got really sick and felt awful. We were SO thankful that we weren't out on the boat at that moment! The next morning Timothy felt well again and we have had a really nice Christmas weekend. Tomorrow we go to the clinic and Timothy gets lab work done and more Chemo. We continue to be reminded to take one day at a time. Good days DO follow bad days. Love, Ginny Wednesday 12/27/00 - Timothy had his clinic appointment yesterday and got a chemo treatment. He had labs done as well. He hasn't had any ill effects form the chemo yet. His white blood count is good, but his hemoglobin is a bit low. It's 8.7 and they transfuse at 8. He will have the labs taken again on Friday just to double check. We would like to see his hemoglobin go up on its own without treatment. Also his potassium is a bit low so he's beefing up on guacamole and O.J. Timothy got to see his doctor at the clinic yesterday. She told me that she was so pleased that his hearing is 100% because "usually at this point - after radiation and chemo, there is some hearing loss". We are praising God and asking you to continue your prayers on Timothy's behalf. Timothy's MRI has been rescheduled to 1/10 at Hoag Hospital (they could work us in more quickly) at 12 noon. Timothy will be in the hospital 1/8 and 1/9 for Chemo at CHOC, so we are praying that all will go smoothly and he could have his MRI on the 10th. Love, Ginny Friday 12/29/00 - Timothy had labs done this a.m. and his hemoglobin is going down, so the doctor decided he should have a transfusion this evening. His magnesium is also too low so he will get an infusion of some magnesium fluids and come home with a prescription for tablets to boost it up. We are actually feeling thankful because labs weren't initially scheduled to be done until Tuesday, 1/2. We asked if they could be done today (because they weren't very good this past Tuesday) and got approval. Now we can rest assured that Timothy will get through the long weekend with his body feeling better. Thank you for your continued prayer. Love, Ginny Wednesday 1/3/01 - Timothy had chemo yesterday at the clinic and lab work. He is tolerating the chemo fine and eating very well. He continues to maintain a steady weight. Timothy's labs look pretty good - just low on the magnesium, so he's continuing taking supplemental tablets twice a day. Timothy will next have lab work done on Sunday in preparation for hospital admission Monday for Chemo. Please continue to pray for his MRI scheduled at Hoag Hospital on Wednesday 1/10. Timothy has been asking to visit the really wonderful people from Hoag that he saw every week day for 8 weeks for his radiation treatments at the beginning of his treatment. He is so thankful that that part is behind him. It will be nice for them to see Timothy well. This will give him and opportunity to visit them before his MRI - at least that's our plan for now. Love, Ginny Sunday 1/7/01 - What a beautiful weekend! Timothy has had a lot of opportunity to get outside in the fresh air and get some exercise. We are glad he has been feeling well. He had one rough day this week with nausea, but the rest have been pretty good. Timothy will have labs drawn today. He will also get IV hydration for 10 hours as he sleeps tonight. That will prepare him for the Chemo that he will get at the hospital tomorrow. Usually they do this at the hospital, but he'd rather spend more time here than there. This way his body will be prepared for the chemo and they can start right away. Timothy should be released on Tuesday if all goes well. Please remember to pray for the MRI on Wednesday. I'm not sure how quickly we will get the results. Hopefully before the end on the week is out. Love, Ginny Tuesday 1/9/01 - Timothy got to come home this evening which we were all pleased about. He did well with his Chemo so the doctor bumped up his next dose (usually it's given 24 hours apart). Timothy ate well the past couple of days. Those of you who have been with us from the beginning know what a big deal this is! We bring in a lot of food for Timothy. For some reason just the smell of the tray that the food is delivered in makes him feel yucky, so even if the food looks good, it has the "tray smell". Timothy is feeling nauseous tonight - that is expected. We are hopeful he will feel better tomorrow since he's having the MRI done. Sometimes the anesthesia will make you feel nauseous, so he doesn't need a double whammy. I am, once again, reminded of so many others going through this cancer experience with their children. Timothy shared a room today with a 5 year old sweet boy who has leukemia. At 2 he was in treatment. Just when they had finished treatment he had lab work done and - it's back! This time he will have to go through a bone morrow transplant. As you pray for Timothy, will you also lift up Zack and his family. Thank you. Love, Ginny |
