| "What in the hell are you doing AJ?!"Nick blurted out once they were alone in their separate vehicle. "Playing house I see,"AJ remarked. "Oh no this is not about me right now you asshole. You just had to go and screw things up before the wedding now didn't you?" "Would you cut the righteous crap on me Nick. You're just as bad reeling Cindy in with the sweet little perfect guy friend gig you're pulling." "You know AJ. I'm a hell of a lot more grown up than you are at this point. You can't even let your friend have one moment of happiness without it revovling around you. Just leave it alone already and you were with me last night if he asks." "Oh no I wasn't." "If you wanna live you were." "And what are you gonna do if I don't?" "What do you want? Do you want her to agree to a DNA test before they get married? Is that it? Are you such an asshole you would hold her friend's indiscretions over her head if she doesn't agree to it?" He looked at Nick with a wicked grin. "God I'm ashamed to even say I know you." They passed Howie in the lobby."Hey Nick. How's it going?"he inquired as Nick breezed by him. "Age. What the hell's up with Nick?" "Who knows. How's it going?" "Good. And you? Looks like you had a rough night." "I think that's what up with Nick. He didn't exactly care for our little venture last night." "Meaning what?" "He's so hooked on Cindy I couldn't get him to look at anything else,"He smoke screened for the time being. "Should I be separating you two over this?" "No. Nick's a big boy. He'll deal with it. Maybe he can see her today." "Well I'm supposed to have lunch with Grace today. I have a feeling Cindy could probably drag herself and the kid over to Grace's for a couple of hours. Should I catch him?" "Do what you want,"AJ made his way toward the sluggish elevators. "You wanna see Cindy?" Nick turned at Howie's voice and cautiously responded,"That'd be nice." "I'm having lunch with Grace today and I'm sure she can drag Cindy along." "Okay." "You two have a ball today now,"AJ remarked. Nick glared over his shoulder as they walked out. "What's that all about?"Howie asked once they were in the car. "Just the same ole, same ole. He ain't giving up on the DNA thing." "He promised me he wouldn't do anything until after the wedding." "Thank god it's only two days away because I don't think he's gonna last much longer than that." |
