Chapter 16
The tour had ended and it was now just a matter of weeks before the big event; the wedding.
"So when are the Boys coming in?"Cindy inquired as she sat with Grace for the final fitting on her dress.
She couldn't help but remember how happy she was to get married but it never came to be.
"I think they're coming in the next couple of days. Why?"
"Just curious."
"No Cindy.  You're never just curious.  What's going on that I don't know about?  Who is the prince charming today?"
"Hang on.  Come back here Suzie,"She softly encouraged her as the toddler smiled and plodded toward her.  She lifted Suzie onto her lap and straightened her little pink dress.
"Cindy,"Grace turned her head.
"I'm sorry.  Where were we?"
"We were talking about the guys.  Prince Charming?  Which this week?"
"Actually, it's been Nick for about six months now."
"Excuse me?"
"We've been communicating via the net.  He's a nice guy."
"So's AJ."
"I thought you hated the guy."
"I did but he's Howie's friend.  He can't be all that bad of a guy."
"You don't know him quite as well as I do."
"Cindy. If there's one thing I've learned from all of this is that you have to look past the surface to find the real thing.  He may have the bad boy exterior but I bet he's got one of the biggest hearts on the inside."
"Why is it you don't want to see me  with Nick?"
"It's not  that.  I just don't think you let men in after Alan died."
"Let's not talk about this anymore okay?"
"You're the one that brought it up."
"I'm sorry.  It's just really hard to think of him."
"I know Cind but please remember him when you make your decision between the two because it sounds like there's a little hesitancy on that part of your life right now.  Follow your heart and not your head okay?"
"Gotcha."

"I'm gonna do it Howie,"AJ introduced as their flight to Arizona left the runway.
"What?"
"I wanna know."
"You're not talking about that DNA crap again are you?"
"Yes I am."
"Give it a rest. Give me just one week of peace to get married and then do whatever the hell you want."
"You're not gonna back me on this one are ya?"
"Have you seen that little girl lately?  She looks nothing like neither one of ya now.  She's a carbon copy of Cindy.  Besides, I don't see you ever entering the picture anyway.  From what Grace told me the other day, I think Nick has swept her off her feet."
"Yeah right."
"You don't believe people can fall in love the  way they have?"
"No.  Because it's not face to face."
"Whatcha talking about?"Nick interrupted their conversation.
"I was just telling D here I'm gonna have the DNA done."
"What's it gonna prove AJ?  The kid hasn't known a father in all of her one and  a half years.  I doubt it's gonna make a difference in her life."
"Don't you think Cindy wants to know?"
"You haven't cared enough about her in the past six months to ask that question of her."
"I have the money to be asking that question of her."
"You know she doesn't have the means to fight you on this."
An devlish grin formed upon his features."Ain't it grand?"
"I don't know you anymore,"Howie dismissed himself from the conversation ensuing.
"Don't think you've won this battle.  Just remember Age,  I have the same amount of means to support her in her efforts."
Completely ignoring his remark,"What's gonna happen if it does turn out to be mine?"
"God help us all."
