| She surveyed the crowded room. Not unusual for Friday night she thought. Then he walked into the room. Grace knew every face in this club. His was not one of them. She watched him lean across the bar to order a drink;his straight dark strands falling down toward his face. He tucked the strands behind each ear. He paid for his drink and generously she notices before he leaves the bar. Her eyes follow him across the club to a table in the corner where his friends had anxiously awaited his arrival. They greet other before settling into a rhythmic conversation in their little corner of the world."HeyGrace!"her friend Cindy approached her very focused friend. "Who's the guy this week?" She indicates with a nod toward the corner table. As far as you can tell, they all are pretty attractive so Cindy pushed further for information. "Which one?" "The one on the end. Now would you leave me alone for awhile." "I'll be dancing with one of his friends if you need to find me." "Sure yea, whatever,"she dismissed you as though she were actually paying any attention to your snide little remark although you could actually ask one of them to see if they would. Maybe you should ask the one she's eyeing and see what happens." Excuse me,"Cindy requeseted his attention and he turned his head. "Hi,"He smiledand your heart melts. The temptation seems almost too easy. "Hi. Listen, I have a friend over there that's...well..." "Not quite as forward as you?" Two can play at this game."Now you wouldn't be saying that just to get rid of me would you?" "It didn't seem to work so I guess the answer is no." "A sense of humor. I like that." "Perceptiveness. I like that." "Well now that we have a little mutual admiration society going here, can I finish what I came to say?" "Maybe but I think I know what it is." "If you're thinking it has anything to with your fame sweetheart, my friend has no idea who you are. Now me on the other hand." "I thought so. So who's your friend?" She turned to find her friend gone from the spot she was glued to moments ago. "I have no idea. She was just over there a minute ago." "Cin sweetie. You haven't introduced me to your new friend,"she's practically on top of you now. "I don't know his name yet but maybe he could introduce us before we all grow old here." "I'm sorry. I'm Howie , this is AJ and the baby of our entourage, Nick,"as he circled the table. "I'm Cindy and this is my friend Grace." "Would you like to join us?"Nick offered. "Actually, you can catch us on the other side of the club if you're interested,"she pulled her away with herself. |
| "What the hell did you do that for?"She stopped me. "He knows I'm a fan." "Of what?" "Don't you know who they are?" "Enlighten me." "Everybody. Rock your body,"she sang with the intro of the music. "That's the hunk plastering your walls?" "Give the lady a hand. But I have a snowball's chance in hell with him so go for it. I saw the way he was looking at you." "What about that chic D?"AJ inquired. "Which one?" "The shy one. You know she's been eyeing you since you walked in here and that way the kid and I can give that other little girl a night she won't soon forget." "So go work your magic Age,"Howie responded by moving off the outside end of the booth. He jumped out of the booth and weaved his way through the crowded club before landing upon their table. The gravely tone of his voice and the heat of his breath dancing upon her ears were mere torture being as she wanted this one."You know I have a spot right over there next to me screaming your name to be kept warm,"she turned her head after he finished. "One condition." "Yes." "The shades,"she motioned for him to pull them off. "Why?" "You don't get us unless you do." "You drive a hard bargain young lady." "You have beautiful eyes if you would just show them off more." This was gonna be harder than he thought. Grace shrugged her shoudlers in ignorance. "You really think so?" She pulled them down herself."Incredibly beautiful,"as she studied the flowing dark lashes and the brilliance of their shade. "Not very shy are you?" "Not compared to my friend here." "Thanks Cindy,"she yelled over the music. "So?" "You wanna join these guys?"she yelled back to her friend. She shot Cindy a look as though are you kidding as AJ escorted them across the room. |
