| She was one of the first to arrive at his party the next evening. She figured she'd get a jump on things. "Tam, I'd like you to meet Kelly, Kelly this is Tam." "So you're the girl that Howie goes on and on about,"Kelly offered. "Does he now?" "I don't know how you let him get away but I suggest you hold onto him if he ever comes back." "Now I know why you like her Nick. She's everything I'm not." "Hey! You're special in your own way. I just wish you two could get it together,"he said. "Tamara. It was nice to meet you but I think I'm gonna drag Nick away for awhile." "No problem. I'll find something to keep myself occupied." "Hey Tam!"Liz greeted from behind her. "Oh My God! Is that you?"she turned to find Liz with a cropped hairstyle. "You like?" "I love it. It's totally you." "You look great Tam." "Thank you." "Yes you do Tam,"AJ agreed. "Thank you. So do you know if he's gonna be here tonight?" "Didn't take ya very long to ask that one." "I miss him. I wanna make things right." "I don't know. He said he might show up. I'm gonna go round us up something to drink,"AJ excused himself and left the girls to themselves. "I'm sorry Tam,"Liz said apologetically. "It's okay. Howie is his best friend. I broke his heart this time." "I wish I could promise you a happy ending Tam but this is reality here." "I know and the reality is he could not show up tonight but that's a chance I'm willing to take. I fought too long and hard to bring him into my life. I'm not letting him go without one." "Good for you. I'm gonna go find Age. Good luck." "Thanks Liz." She wandered around the party for hours it seemed before she settled for the pool and the full moon. Something about water and the full moon's glow was strangely calming for here whereas it was known to do the unexplainable to others. She was staring up at the moon's golden glow when she heard the familiar voice."So how's the story end?" |
| She turned to find Howie there."Excuse me?" "I've heard through the grapevine you've been writing." "Yeah I have." "I thought you should have been a long time ago from some of those letters you wrote me." "That was different." "How?" "It has to come from my heart for it to be any good to me." "So this story? Does it have a happy ending?"he took her hand. "That depends on you." "Me?" "Yeah you. So are you gonna break my heart and walk away or are you gonna give me my happy ending here and now?" "Is that what you want?" "Yes." "He drew her against the warmth of his body and softly kissed her with the grip of the moonlight's romantic implications. Happily ever after never happens you say? Just don't let the moonlight ever get a hold on you. The End,"the editor read."Very nice. I have a feeling you're gonna have a very fruitful career as a writer." "Thank you." "I'm just curious. Is this true?" "Parts of it yes." "The happily ever after?" "True." "You should thank him." "I do every single day." |
