Chapter 26
The weeks passed and no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't forget.  She didn't look back but she knew the painstaking gaze that would be there.  The one she'd seen so many times when he'd fight with Susan.  Now she was the cause of those heartwrenching emotions.  Her work was failing terribly these days.  Her employer suggested a leave of absence to pull herself together perhaps.  It wouldn't be any better than being here at the office but then again she wouldn't be screwing things up either so she took the suggested time off but all she could do was think of her life.  Sure it had it's ups and downs.  Everybody's did.  Why was she so special?  She wasn't.   The ringing of her doorbell interrupted her ongoing line of thoughts."Hey stranger.  Remember me?"John inquired.
"You look vaguely familiar.  How's it going?"
"That's what I came to ask you.  You said you needed some time but I couldn't wait."
"Couldn't or didn't want to?"
"Does it really make a difference?"
"Guess not. So why are you here?"
"I came to see how you were doing."
"You or your team of culprits?"
"The boy is miserable without you Tam.  I think you need to see him."
"Why?"
"Are you perfect Tam?"
"No but
"Then see him.  I think nearly two months is plenty of time to work things through,"he interrupted.
"I just don't know."
"Tam. Love isn't just about the romance.  It's a lot of work and you of all people should know that."
"But love should have some of that romance John.   It's out there.  I know it is.  I just haven't found it yet."
"You haven't found it yet?"
"Yes."
"Do you remember the night you met my brother?"
"Sorta."
"Let me refresh your memory."
~Flashback~

"Come on John,"she urged as 112's Dance With Me encouraged the crowd to display it's finer dancing techniques.
"Maybe the next one.  My brother should be here any minute now."
"He can find us after this song.  Come on.  Please?"she begged and batted her eyelashes.
"You don't play fair."
"I know.  Thank you,"she smiled and dragged him on the dance floor.
She was moving and swaying to the music when she caught his eye.   There he was.  Beautiful.  And he couldn't seem to keep his eyes off her. She turned back to face John."Having fun?"
"A blast,"he mustered up a smile.
"You're a good sport."
"Thank you."
She turned her back to John once again noticing the young latin man burning a hole in her.  She smiled as she felt John against her backside."So who's the lucky guy?"
"Excuse me?"
"Which one is taking you home tonight?"
"I'm not that kind of girl."
"I know.  So which one?"
"The one staring a hole into me."
John looked to find that it was Howie that had been staring her down."That's my brother."
She turned around nearly knocking John over."You'd better be kidding."
"I'm not."
"I'm gonna kill you.  I'm out here making a fool of myself and you let me do it."
"Don't let Susan catch you doing that,"AJ remarked as Howie's eyes were continuously glued to his brother's dance partner.
"Do what?"Howie returned barely drawing his attention away from the dance floor.
"Undressing that girl with your eyes.  She withholds if you  so much as mention another woman."
"I know. "
John escorted Tamara off the dance floor to where they were seated."I'll be right back,"as he went to find his brother and friend.  He returned with the two."Tamara I'd like you to meet AJ Mclean,"he introduced and they exchanged pleasantries.
"And this is my baby bro' Howard."
"Nice to meet you Tamara,"he extended his hand.
"Same here,"she couldn't tear her eyes away from him. His hand lingered longer than it should have within her grip.
"So is Susan going to be joining us tonight?"John inquired breaking the grip Howie had on her.
"Who's Susan?"Tamara asked innocently.
"You really don't get out much do you?"AJ inquired.
"I listen to the music but I don't live your lives,"she returned.
"Feisty.  I say you dump Susan and marry this one."
"I repeat.  Who is Susan?"
"The girlfriend from hell,"John interjected.
Howie gave him a look.
"It's true. She's made his life a living hell."
"Personally he'd be better off without her but the sex must be great for him to have stuck around this long,"AJ remarked.
"Would you excuse my friend?"
"Why?  That's the only reason I hung around in some of my most horrible relationships,"Tamara smiled, accepting the fact that  he was unavailable at that time.
"You really didn't have to do that."
"It's the truth."
