Chapter 24
Tamara readjusted her position on the large bed finding Nick had deserted it and she had consumed the space he had occupied at one time that evening.  God what did I do!  Whatever I did, I did more than once last night she reminiscing her regret.  It hadn't been a total loss.  The tension straining her body had been released.   What was she thinking?  She'd never been this cold hearted in her life before.   Then again, she'd never been hurt this badly before.  Where was he anyway? she lifted herself onto her elbows and focused the best she could.  She slouched back into a slumber when her search came up  empty.
"Tam?"he lightly nudged.
No response.
"Tam?"he urged once again.
"Go away,"she groggily responded and turned away.
"Tam,"his breath softly breezed against her ear.
"I told you to go away,"she said turning to find herself imprisoned between Nick's arms."What are you doing Nick?"suddenly fully alert.
"I'm leaving. Got one of those local early morning talk shows to do."
"We need to talk Nick."
"We can talk later.  I do have a few minutes though,"he raised his brow suggestively with his offer.
"Nick,"she protested clutching the sheet close to the bareness lurking underneath.
"What?  It's not like I haven't seen it."
"Move,"she ordered.
"Tam,"he whined.
"Don't you start with that,"she clutched the sheet tightly to her body and moved to the opposite of the bed.
He sat down next to her."What's wrong?"
"What's wrong?"she reitterated his inquiry with anger."God Nick!  His bed isn't even cold  and you're acting like I've left Howie for good."
"I'm sorry."  He dropped his gaze painfully toward the bed.
"Don't be sorry Nick,"she drew the sheet up with her as she removed herself from the bed."We made a mistake.  A huge mistake.  I needed somebody last night and unfortunately you just happened to be the one in my path."
"So I'm a mistake?"he looked up from the bed. He got up and headed toward the door.
She followed him  and grabbed his hand.
"What do you want?"He didn't turn at her request.
"Dammit Nick!  Would you  learn to be  a grown up about these things?  The last thing I want to do is hurt you but you don't make it very easy for me most times. "
"Then stop hurting me."
"Don't even start with the pity party Nick.  It won't work this time"
"I've gotta go."
"I know.  You've always gotta go."
"If you want any breakfast go ahead and order."
"We'll talk when you get back?"she requested of  him.
"Sure,"he reluctantly agreed.
"Don't do me any favors."
"I already did."
"Fuck you!"
"Did that too,"he took one last jab before leaving.
She fell back onto the bed.  Assholes!  They think they own you once they've gotten a good lay out of it.  She was dragged out of her thoughts as she heard tiny shrill.  She scurried to her bag and grabbed the object of her distraction."Hello?"
"Hey Tam!  You wanna go grab a bite this morning?"Liz inquired on the other end.
"I'm not very hungry right now."
"Something happen that I don't know about."
"Come on over to Nick's room and I'll explain."
"If you're in Nick's room you do need to explain.  I'll see you in a few seconds."
"Everything okay Nick?"AJ sat in the van as they waited the other's arrival.
"Fucking women.  I wish I'd never laid eyes on her."
"Who?"
"Take a wild guess,"he groaned.
"Tell me you didn't do what I think you did last night."
He looked guiltily toward AJ.
"Dear God.  How could you Nick?"
"She was involved too remember?"
"She was in a weakened state I'm assuming too."
"Fuck Age.  She told me he smelled of them and had lipstick smudged on his collar.  I've done a lot of stupid things in my life but I never hurt her until today."
"Why does that matter?"
"Even though she's hurt me more by being in love with him, the one thing I did promise her is that I would never do anything to hurt her."
"We all slip Nick."
"What's going on guys?"Brian bounded into the van.
"Nothing,"Nick lied.
He looked toward AJ."Don't ask me.  He's been in a mood since he got here."
Howie boarded next and the tension between them was beyond  compare.  Things never used to be this way.  Then again, there wasn't a woman tearing them apart either."How is she?"Howie made a request of Tamara's state.
"Excuse me?"Nick asked.
"I know she went to you last night.  She always goes to you when we fight.  So?"
"She cried herself to sleep last night,"Nick lied.  Something else that never used to happen either."Happy?"
