Chapter 16
"God I wish you could go,"Tamara hung onto Liz for dear life before their parting of ways. "I know but my boss asked me to work this weekend and I've been slacking off just a bit lately so I'm gonna be the angel and stay home this weekend." "Funny. I'll see you Sunday night?" "Yeah. I'll be here." "I'll miss you." "You know I'm not good with mushy farewells so go and make your boyfriend happy."And mine she added in her mind. If Tamara only knew what she was being sent into this weekend and the real reason Liz wasn't going she'd probably have killed her by now. "Call me if you get bored at work?" "Sure,"she embraced Tamara one last time hoping that she wouldn't be hating her guts by the time she returned. Tamara boarded the plane unaware of the plan that had been devised for her this weekend. She thought it rather odd that not one of the girls was going to be there this weekend but her. It was going to be a lonely weekend for female companionship that's for sure.
Their plan fell into effect the next evening. It was weird to her being the center of attention from all of them. She was the only female in their entourage as they entered the club. Being as Nick nor AJ had any real ties, it made her uneasy. She had a past with Nick. Not much of one granted but if they knew that she and Nick....well, it wouldn't be very easy to explain as they had told everybody they hadn't. You think they would have figured it out at the uneasiness between the two every time she showed up. Shit! How I am gonna do this without him catching on to us having had any real physical contact before Nick pondered as he watched the two of them dance. This would be so much easier had he not agreed but then again if he hadn't they'd have known something was up. Why'd they live such fucked up lives to begin with? Why did he get such a kick out of watching his girlfriends trying to resist temptation? He couldn't understand being as he'd been in Howie's position before. I mean, he's supposed to be in love with this woman right? Why would he do something like this to hurt her? And he knew it was gonna hurt her but what could he do? He could say no. And he was going to. "Hey Nicky! So you up for this?" "I don't think this is such a good idea Age." "What's not good about it? He seems to think she's pretty open minded when it comes to these things." "And how would he know this?" "He talks to her. They were friends before they became lovers Nick. You of all people should know that."
"Don't be lecturing me. How could he do this to someone he claims to love? Shit! I think he said he loved her just to get into her pants." "You're kidding right?" "Haven't you ever told a woman you loved her just to get laid before? I know I have," Nick signaled the waitress for another drink."And I wouldn't be the first man in the world to have done it either. He probably just got curious and decided that was the best way to get her there. She has been pushing the idea for awhile now." "You can't honestly believe that." "Then what am I supposed to believe man? If he loves her like he says he does, he shouldn't need this little so called test of faith anymore and if you were any kind of friend, you'd be reconsidering this too." At that moment, Tamara came bouncing back to the table. She scooted into the booth. "Having a good time?"AJ quieried "Yes I am." "So where's Howie?"Nick followed "He went to get me a drink. Why?" AJ looked to Nick then to Tamara."Would you excuse me for a minute?" "Sure. What's going on Nick?"she asked after AJ was gone. He shifted uncomfortably in his seat."Nothing." "Nothing my ass. What's going on?" "Nothing Tam. I swear." "Then why was AJ in such a rush to leave this table?" "I don't know. Maybe he had to relieve himself."
