"Not really.  You don't seem like one of those chics that chases after the others.  Autographs for their daughters.  I'm sure you've seen them."
I smiled inwardly.  I knew a few unfortunately but thank God my friends were honest fans; not hiding behind some facade to implicate they were too old to be fascinated by the phenomena known as the Backstreet Boys."A few, yeah.  Sounds like that bothers you."
"Naw. Because I don't get that like they do.   They mostly wanna baby me if they're closer to your age."
There he went again; open mouth, insert foot.  It was rather cute the way he was stumbling over his words.
"I didn't mean."
"I know."
"Actually I think you're better looking than some of those ladies that pine away after D and Kev."
I wanted to be offended by this but I just couldn't.  He smiled and it was just so inviting!
"I keep saying all the wrong stuff don't I?"
"You're fine."
He certainly knew how to  use his boyish quality.
Now it was my turn to take that crazy chance I'd been fantasizing about for the past two weeks.  I took the soda from his hand and I placed  both cans  on the floor beside the bed."Tell me something Nick.  What do you honestly see when you look at me?"
"Honestly?"he struggled with the suggestion.
"Honestly."
He'd been fighting it since the minute they walked in here too.  There'd been that underlying attraction since we walked in here.  I took his hand.  I wove my tiny fingers through the enormity that nearly swallowed mine.
"You really don't wanna know,"he met my gaze once again.
"It's just you and me.  I'm not gonna tell anybody."
"You're not gonna run off and brag to your friends?"
"That's a guy thing.  Women don't kiss and tell. Lesson number one but you still haven't answered my question."
"Do I have to?"
Do I have to?  Hell no!  I was getting the response I wanted so far.  Why push it?"One condition."
"What  condition?"
"I'd like a kiss before I walk out of here."
"A kiss?"
"You wouldn't deny a sweet old lady a kiss now would ya?  Remember we don't kiss and tell."
"Sweet yes, but old, no,"he complimented;drawing my hand up to his lips and placed a kiss on the back of my hand.  Chivalrous to say the least.   Good lord!  He was gonna do it.  He was gonna kiss me.  No time for a breath check.  Nothing! He was there.  Full on lip contact. Nice.  Natural, not forced but he stopped. He grinned toward me and said,"I don't even know your name."
"Do you need to know my name?"
"If you're planning on staying, yes."
"Why would I want to stay?"
"Of course.  You got what you wanted."
"No I didn't,"I said; his hand still resting comfortably under my chin and his thumb just within reach of my mouth.
"You didn't?" he looked at me quizically.
"No,"I said."And the name is Val."
"Val."
"Yes?"I said brushing the bangs from his forehead; my hand falling against the curve of his cheek.
"Are you staying?"
I got up from the bed; his big blue eyes never once leaving mine.  It was a litttle unnerving the way he followed my every move at first but that proved to be a positive trait in the end.  I slipped my shoes off.
"I take that as a yes."
Hoping I wasn't taking too much for granted, I slid the short sleeved dusty rose sweater I'd been wearing over the abundance of auburn curls I'd adorned for the day.  His silence was killing me as I stood there waiting for approval or disapproval for that matter.
A smile slid across his face as he stood.  I was assuming he was coming for me but he passed by and headed toward the door.  I soon found out as the room was  embraced with soft light.  I couldn't stand it any longer and broke the deafening silence."Are you afraid of the light?"I joked.
"Not at all."
"Then why the dim lights?"
"To set the mood."
"There you go making me think you're  a romantic or something."
"But I am,"he swept me up into his arms; catching me completely off guard.
"You're a man of few words,"I remarked as he placed me on the bed.
"And that's bad because?"He stood planted as I moved toward him.
My lips softly replaced the material of his soft white polo shirt as I moved upward onto my knees. He absently tossed the shirt aside as my stormy blue eyes met up with the most innocent gaze I'd ever known.  Far more than mine.
"You didn't answer my question."
