| Chapter 8 |
| Sherl knew something was up from the way Melissa had been wandering around the apartment the past two days. She was an emotional rollercoaster but for the most part she was high on life. She surely hadn't gone back to Howie. God forbid she do that but then again, Melissa never took half of the advice she shelled out anyway."Mis?" She removed her glazed over gaze from her Ben&Jerry's and the television."Hey Sherl! What's up?" "I'm going to ask you something." "Yes." "You don't even know what I was going to ask you." "Yes I do. You were going to ask me if I did the deed with Nick and the answer is yes." "You've got to be kidding me 'Lis." "I put on the heels and the dress and I just went with it. It was over before it began." "How are you so sure it's over?" "Because I made sure it was." "I don't think it is,"Sherl got up and moved over to the answering machine. She hit the play button. "Melissa, this is Nick. What happened to you? We need to talk." "Hey Melissa. I know you're there. Call me. You can't hide forever." "Melissa, I'm not one to beg but I think you at least owe me an explanation for the other afternoon,"was the final message Sherl played for her. "I told you I wouldn't interfere Mis but he's leaving messages on My machine. I think I'm owed an explanation as well,"Sherl scolded. "Alright. I don't know why I did it Sherl. I just went over there and took control of him. I was losing the battle against myself to fight the urge I've had lately to take him on the kitchen floor so I took him." "Did you forget you're still married?" "A fact I haven't forgot. I just chose not to remember it for a few brief moments of pleasure like my husband has for the past two years." "You didn't have to go to that extreme. You left him. I think that was extreme enough for him." "Have you ever wanted to do something just because you felt like it?" "Sure but "Sherl. I've been good all my life. I've never done anything just because I felt like it. I've always planned everything I've ever done right down to the day I was married. I can't go out on the spur of the moment because that's not me. I did something for me for a change and it felt great." "I can't argue that I guess." "Thank you." "Okay. I want details and then you call him." "Yes Mother,"she mocked. "So?" "Oh My God! I felt like I was gonna split wide open." "But it was good?" "Extremely." "Okay enough details. Call him now." "Okay,"she lethargically dialed the number."Nick?"She requested. "Missy?" "You wanted to talk?" "I've left a hundred messages. Of course I wanna talk. I'll come over right now if it's okay." "I think we're safe. Sherl's here." "I'll be over in a few then." |
