| "So when is he gonna be served with the papers?"Sherl inquired on their way over to Nick's for a cookout. "The earliest he says is Friday." "He's getting better in his old age." "Well, I told him I was a friend of yours. You have this tendency to leave an impression on people long after you're gone." Sherl smiled."So how's that novel coming along?" "It's coming. It's practically writing itself these days." "Speaking of which?" "Yes Nick and I've worked things out and we're keeping it on a friendly level for now." "Isn't that gonna be kinda hard?" "For who?" "Well now." "He's kinda hard not to keep my hands off of. I never thought of him as anything else then a friend before the "asshole" chose to continue his ways." "You know that's really nothing to feel ashamed of Mis. You're a woman. Although I find very little attractive about him. I just put up with him for AJ's sake." "Well we're here." "I'm ready to do a little playing,"she jumped out of the convertible. She hadn't seen Melissa this happy in a long time. Maybe Nick was the missing link in her life. "Come on Sherl,"she urged as she rang the bell. Sherl responded by joining her on the step. "You finally made it,"Nick greeted. "We're all not as naturally gorgeous as you are sweety,"she passed him by and headed straight for the pool. She felt comfortable here. Like this was home."Hey Age,"she greeted before diving into the pool. Sherl and Nick slowly traveled through the corridors of his home."So Missy tells me you two are gonna try a friendship thing." "How long do you think it's gonna last?"he smiled. "Be careful Nick. She just filed the papers a few days ago. You don't need to give him any more ammunition than he already has." "I know. Nothing says I can't enjoy her company right?" "No law against that just make sure you don't get caught keeping that kind of company, cool?" "Gothcha,"he said as they entered the pool area. Sherl set the side dish she'd brought and joined AJ on the lounge chairs. "How was your day baby?"He pulled his sunglasses off to greet her. "Glad that it's finally over. I look forward to the three day weekends as much as the kids do." "What's the deal between Nick and Missy there?" "They claim it's just gonna be a friendship thing for right now with everything that's going on and unless they don't see each other, I don't see it happening." "So they really have." "She's lost AJ.
